got to say this, the builds around here set an awfully high bar. every thread is fantastic in construction techniques, painting techniques, and finishing techniques.
i know..........i know...............
build what you like, how you like................no pressure.
understood.
just got to tell you in my decade of forum browsing i have never seen a collection of master builders as are on this site. i am learning a ton. i may not post in each thread but i have been watching and learning.

That was my first reaction when I first signed up and I think I have seen myself improving so it is great to follow and learn from those masters...

It is truly a collection of amazing builders and people Joe!! Some many builds and posts, I am unsure how anyone can keep up with them all!! I try and hit a couple each time I log in, but they keep on popping up!!

Since I arrived here I've learnt a lot of many MSCF members, and every time I log in I get enormously inspired by all these great people, always sharing their work in a transparent way (no secrets) and reaching a helping hand ! This is the place to be to become a skilled modeler. Above all this there's also a strong virtual friendship between people, which is really special to me.
Best regards ! AG.

Joe, I know where you are commin' from mate. TBH ankle height is setting the bar high for me , but as the man (kinda ) said- the only way to get to Carnigey Hall - Practice practice practice ( and by the way and most importantly ENJOY it ) If I'm honest, I learn best by "failure"- in the broadest possible sense and ther guys on here NEVER put anyone down for getting things wrong -you know the sort of thing- that bolt head is wrong shape and 4 scale mm out of place.
Welcome, build, fail , learn, succeed -ENJOY P

There certainly is some outstanding work done here, but the best part is that it is in no way intimidating here.It is not stuffy or elitist, very friendly and helpful,so no matter who you are,you enjoy posting.

Glad to hear, read these comments. That is what the forum and the hobby is all about. This is the most friendliest and relaxed forum I know, and not because it's my forum, but because you all make it what it is.

Welcome, build, fail , learn, succeed -ENJOY P That my friends, is what its all about and even more! I agree with every single statement above. Every morning when i stand up from bed i go make my coffee and headstraight back to my office chair and log on to MSC.....EVERYDAY!!! It doesnt and never has happen with any other site im a member at. In fact ive become pretty much non existant at the others with the exception of Armorama...where i have some great friendships. This here is my home and will remain so. MSCForever aye.....that might be my next tattoo...MSCF...i like it! Regards, Gary

Don't worry about the bar being too high Joe, I'm here to try and lower it again!

I've never understood the logic behind those who think they have 'secrets' that must be kept in order for their work to somehow be more 'valuable' than others! I go with the basic scientific method approach...if your methods and techniques can't be duplicated by others, then they aren't valid! Have to echo all the sentiments about this forum having a great atmosphere and willingness to share and have fun. It is, after all, a hobby.

many responses all saying basically the same thing.
as i said in the op, in my opinion the collection of builders here has set the bar very high. in my humble opinion every thread i open shows a master at work.

Right on Bill. That is the reason why I started my website and forums, to share with others. I had an experience about 15 years ago with a modeler who kept winning 1st,2nd and at times 3rd places at a big show. I asked a simple question how he did something...and the guy would not answer the question...big secret. Since then I swore that if anyone asked me how I did something I would tell them, and show how I did it. That's also the reason why I did a scratchmod workshop a few years ago, to share with others. no secrets here.
Looking at this months MoM one can see the talent that is here on MSCF. Gonna be a hard month to vote...again.

Thank you Rob for doing this. I wouldn't have learned all of those secrets if I haven't signed up. Same goes for Mig doing many workshops like you guys...
