Started yesterday 001 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr Lotsa parts, not all sprues in the pic 002 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr Warpage but easy to fix 003 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr Trumpy seems to want you to put all the small detail parts on, then assemble the major components afterward. Not doing that, me, makes no sense. This one'll not be done overnight Regards, Mark

Looks like a ton of parts based on those sprue shots. Yowza!

I think a lot of the newer Trumpy offerings are designed to improve your creativity by including lots of dust-like parts and instructing you to fit them in a non-sensical sequence Naturally, I'll be watching this one come together.

Pulling up a chair Mark, I've never understood the whole 'build the entire deck/details and then join to the hull' approach in kit instructions. I think they do it to save on real estate in the instruction steps more than a truly logical assembly step process.

Dupes there's over 1,000 in this kit
Dierk perhaps it's an IQ test Chinese style
Bill I had visions of breaking off all the bitty little parts when attempting to fit the major components together, not cool
Leon it is sorta, lots of PE only parts on this one
Tobias yes the PE is kit supplied. A fair amount of it too
All, thanks and welcome
The Trumpy indy track links are of the brown plastic type with a fair amount of fine flash. I tried a run in spite of this. Left it overnight, picked up the model this morning and the run dissolved into its component parts. Not cool either. Therefore, a set of Fruils are on the way from SacleHobbyist. Fruils only because no one within three thousand miles of me has Masterclub or ModelKasten T-72 tracks in stock. I am ambivalent about them but it seems they are my only option as I wish to finish the model this year and ordering from Japan will not further my cause.
I've put in a fair amount of time on this and it sure doesn't look it. Pics when meaningful stages achieved
Regards, Mark

Bummer about the tracks! You should've asked Martin (martslay) - I'm sure he'd have got you Masterclub tracks in time to finish your project, and you'd have got a 5% discount!

Huh never occurred to me to ask So while waiting for ScaleHobbyist to hack up my tracks I moved on to the turret. 98 PE disks installed 001 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr And quite a few hidden 002 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr Fit and engineering got a bit disappointing in places; in many instances the mounting dimples for the blocks were too far apart. Some places the blocks were too long and had to be finagled. There are more blocks to mount on the turret but I will wait 'till I get everything else on as they are not the most solid even when dry. Trumpy gives an option for what seems to be an optical housing in front of the gunner's hatch 003 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr Since they give no indication of how to mount it I put an .020 slice under it and here's how I think it should be. 004 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr Anyone know better? Regards, Mark

Looking good Mark! I hear you on the blocks.Be glad you don't have to mount them on the side of the turret.

Leon I would be glad but as it turns out there are quite a few more to be set on the turret sides and face. Just postponing them so I won't break 'em off handling the assembly while completing it. Thanks brother

A side trip to Prime Portal has confirmed the gizmo in front of the gunner's hatch does indeed mount up as I'd thought. I must be getting senile; should have thought to go there in the first place. Turret built 001 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr 002 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr Might be stalled until arrival of tracks Regards, Mark

Thanks guys So the Fruils arrived and in the interval I decided to use them on an upcoming T-72 project instead of this one. I was able to find Miniarm snap together workables, however and they require just a swipe or two of the file for cleanup as well as build up swiftly 002 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr Therefore I was able to get the major components together and now it's time to get after the hull detail 003 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr Only 200 or so blocks left to go Regards, Mark

Thanks gents Dierk probably in a padded room with straps on the chair So it's block time again. Trumpy thinks it's OK to have 2 .025 pins to mount them with; I disagree. Therefore, 006 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr The modification will very likely not be visible in addition to providing a substantially greater foot for attachment. In this way I'll not be blowing them off the model when I go to airbrush it. Here's Trumpy's idea of mounting points on the glacis 004 by Mark Hartig, on Flickr Another reason to go with the greater foot idea Regards, Mark
