Camo looks really good Dave! Great idea on the fuel drum.

Nice touch with the mismatched drum, especially considering the 'less than ideal' field conditions I'm sure this one operated in.

Good afternoon everyone. jpc1968 Thank you. I couldn't resist having a back story.....actually I lack the capacity. "Dammit Frank, you said you had it!". "No Mike! It was your turn...." Mark Thank you for the compliment brother. High praise indeed. Leon Thank you buddy. It's a technique I had been wanting to try for a while. After building this Takom T-55, I may relegate my Tamiya T-55 to being a burnt out hulk. Now that, I have yet to do. Bill Thank you my good man. I'm figuring that the "title" to this tank has changed hands a time or two. There is always the "less than ideal" field conditions. Wes Thank you for the compliment. The camo scheme really was goofy simple to pull off. It was the rolling of the poster tac and laying it down that took some time.
The weathering has started. I played a bit more with the mismatched drum this morning. A bit of chipping on the road wheels and front lower hull. Not to much on the hull as I am thinking the tank went under new management and received it's camo. I'll get some pics up later.

There was a bit of time at the bench today. Not as much as I would have liked but, am grateful for nonetheless. Fuel staining on the rear drums. Especially the "odd" fuel drum. The muzzle bore was painted with Vallejo Steel with the lip of the muzzle highlighted with a pencil. The digi cam was having fits trying to focus on this. Perhaps I could persuade SWMBO that I "need" an SLR digi cam. Getting a start on the weathering of the MG The paint chips are done with a small piece of foam and Vallejo Black Brown.

Good afternoon y'all. Dierk Thank you for the compliment. Leon Thank you kindly. Things are still progressing. The application of the decals has slowed things down a bit. I laid down a satin clear coat and let it cure for 24 hours before applying the decals. There weren't many to apply....A grand total of six. Then let them set for a bit before applying another satin clear coat. Once cured I can get started on the dot filters and various washes. For the chipping of the road wheels, I painted along the border of the chips with a lighter shade of paint to show fresher chips and, to give some depth to the paint defects. Both fuel drums are mounted now and the un-ditching log is painted. The log received several layers of treatment. It is a bit difficult to see in the pic but they are there. The last bit was an orange wash to give the log some warmth. Thank you for having a gander. Any and all constructive criticisms are always welcome. Dave

Good evening Leon. Oh yes it has...... The IR lights got painted. I like SKP for this but, I opted to try my hand at painting them. The color was a concoction of Vallejo Oxford Blue, Black Red, Red and Gloss black. Once this was painted on I coated it with MIG Crystal Smoke for the sheen. It looks black but it is a very deep violet/purple. Dot filter....the ugly duckling stage.... After hitting the dots with a brush and mineral spirits. This shows some of the scratches on the exhaust shield. The dots are lens flare. That has never happened with this camera before.... The initial stages of weathering. Giving the turret that lived in look.

Good afternoon Tobias. Thank you kindly for the compliment. The camo was really pretty simple to lay down. Good afternoon Armorguy. Thank you very much for the high praise. With the last couple of builds being ground crawly boomy beasties, I figured it was time to build up a winged, wooshy, swoopy boomy thingy.

That top-down view really captures it perfectly Dave. Very cool! Can't go wrong with an IAF build either, definitely will be different.

Thug625 it is coming together tight sir! I have never built a Takom AFV before. My question to you sir how does it compare to building a Dragon kit. I really like the new T55 variants but don't know if my skill level is up to the task.

Good morning everyone. Dupes, Thank you for the compliment. Bill, Thank you kindly. That was the view that sold me on the camo scheme. The Chaos, Thank you for the compliment. Dierk, Thank you kindly for the compliment. C3P0, First off, thank you for having a gander here and, for your compliment. Now, to your question. This was a far easier build than a Dragon kit. The instructions were clear and coincided with the plastic parts. Dragons instructions can be vague and the parts fit can be off. That being said this Takom kit is not a shake-n-bake kit but, the build was pretty straight forward. Dragon kits can result in some outstanding builds but, your going to have to work for it. What it will boil down to is how badly to you want to build what the kit represents. In short, if you want to build a T-55 kit that doesn't need any extras to give you a good result, I'd go with the Takom kit. JPC1968, Thank you kindly my good man.

Good evening Andy. Freehand and masking. The light squiggles were painted first and then masked with poster tac. After that, I shot the green and then free handed the red/brown. After I shot the red/brown then, I removed the masking. Pretty simple for the results I achieved. Sounds like you've been a busy boy.
