A Group Build on another site prompted the completion of this shelf queen. It sat for the better part of 5 years after all the putty work got to me. Here's how I left off. After finding and or scratch building parts, I got to this. Almost before I knew it, she was in primer. I changed my mind on the color scheme about 10 times. I finally decided on the final finish after looking at old photos. I wanted to use MM Acryls for this. Don't ask why, I don't know either. It's probably because I stocked up on them during the Tamiya shortage. Here's my baby poop tan base color. G

MM Acryl "Field Drab" was necessary for the next color. That prevented me from mixing Tamiya and running short as I always do.... After debating various ways of masking this pattern, I wimped out and decided to brush paint it. First coat. Second coat. Further internal debate finalized the use of Vallejo for the remaining two colors. Yes, I argue with myself all the time. I get great results though. Earth Yellow, mixed from Vallejo "Sand Yellow" and "Tan Yellow". By now you have realized this isn't a Magach in the Sinai. You are correct, it isn't. The tank is a USMC, M60A1 at the MCAGCC, 29 Palms California. This is from about '78-'80. Vallejo "Black Gray" rounds out what is now recognizable as MERDC Gray Desert. Oh yeah, I used these as well. Superb looking tracks when completed. G

Some oils, some sponge chipping and pigments rounded her out. All in all I'm very pleased with the end result. I feel she's a great shelf model now, not just a shelf queen. Note, I will paint the exhaust staining soon. I just wasn't feeling it as of this time. I didn't want to haul out the AB and all the stuff for 15 seconds of painting. That's a debate I lost. G

Looks good in the desert scheme there G, always nice when you can get a shelf queen over into the finished column.

Very cool brush work on the MERDC! The upcoming camo job for my Chi-Ha still gives me headaches, too.

Thank you all! Tobi I built The ancient Tamiya Chi Ha a decade ago. I sprayed the yellow stripe, masked that with liquid mask, then sprayed the base color. Afterwards I decided to brush paint the green and brown with Vallejo Model Color. This is the only photo I have left. G
