Those of you who know me will now suspect somebody's cloned my ID and is impersonating me - badly It's not soviet, won't be painted in 4BO - it's not even WWII! I'd come across this kit, and its bigger brother, the Edelweiss Experimental Tank a few times, thinking 'that looks interesting' - but the extortionate prices asked for them put me off. But when I stumbled upon this for the more realistic price of €29.99, my finger clicking the 'buy now' button was a mere blur. Inside the sturdy box you find four sprues of softish, bluey/grey plastic, a small clear sprue, a sheet of decals, and a rather nice A4 instruction manual. Sprue 'A' has the parts for the hull and side skirts (apologies for the quality of the pics): The kit is based on a video game. Some nice surface detail: You get two sprues 'B' with the running gear: Wheels are detailed on both sides, and - apart from the return rollers - have notched mating sufaces, so they only fit together one way: Length and length(no indy links) look OK, but do have a few EPMs on the inside - time will tell if I need to do anything about them: On sprue 'C' we find the parts for the turret, tools, etc: The instructions are in Japanese only, but you get both drawings and photo's of the finished sub-assemblies:

It's always neat to see the different 'real-life' vehicle influences in fantasy-like designs of this type. It's almost like an easter-egg collection exercise to see if you can spot them all! Looking forward to seeing you have fun with it.

Looking forward to seeing you have fun with it. Indeed Bill - looks like the b#sterd offspring of a threesome between a Panzer IV, 38(t) and a Hotchkiss No pics right now - we're in blackout mode to stop our abode turning into a blast furnace, so light conditions are not conducive to taking pics. So far, all I've had for this kit was praise. But apparently, where there's light, there has to be darkness too - and the turret skirts are the equivalent of a night during a lunar eclipse...My idea was to fit the brackets and leave the skirts off until after the first round of paint...meh - turns out the fit of the brackets on the turret is not positive enough to ensure the skirts fit afterwards. The brackets are also some of the few parts afflicted by mould seams, and the fit of the rear ones was so tight that one of the parts broke - but in a fixable way. Talking of breakages: whilst trying to slim down the top part of the star antenna, I found out that 'soft' does not equate to 'flexible' - yup, managed to break off one arm. Again, it was fixable, though. Side skirts are a bit warped too...

Sorry to learn of the dark after all the light, dierk.
Looks like a cool project. Keep plugging away, I'm sure you'll beat it into shape.

Cheers gents! Submission has been beaten into the model I think/hope I might be getting a painting session in today. All the major bits in one place: As you can see, skirt brackets don't sit flush on the turret - so much for painting first and fitting the skirts after. Although the instructions don't mention them, there are locating holes for the 'inverted V' parts (lifting hooks?) and as there were two spares, I bunged them on: A bit chunky, but trying to slim it down resulted in a breakage. Everybody's favourite:wheels on sticks

Considering it's a fantasy tank, I'm sure some things were literally just stuck on because they 'looked cool'! Now for the fun part...

Cheers gents! Some progress: primed the model using Vallejo PG primer, followed by a coat of the high-light shade from the PG modulation set. Once it was dry, a lot of masking happened - spread out over several days. Before I hit it with the next colour I'll go over the edges of the tape with a tooth pick to make sure no bleeding happens. Tracks are done too: The next shade I'll have to mix, as straight PG is too dark. I'm thinking PG with some light blue.

Just waiting for the darker grey to dry. I had nothing in my paint stash that was suitable, so mixed something together. Attempt one was Panzer Grey and light blue...meh, too much LB, turned out almost like the light grey - not enough contrast. Added some Panzer Grey primer, which is very dark. Still not that dark though, so I misted over the lot with heavily diluted PG primer. Fingers are crossed...

Ah the joys of matching colors on a Sci-Fi subject! I'm sure as long as it's close enough, no one will be able to tell Dierk. Fingers crossed for you as well that all that masking paid off!

Goes together fast AND it looks cool! Can't wait to see where this paint is going. You won't have to - got a session in yesterday. It was a bit fraught, though: my initial attempts at mixing turned out results that were too light, kept adding more and more PG primer - in the end it looked like straight Panzer Grey The other problem is that it's been hot and dry for weeks, so the humdidity level is near zero...AB kept blocking so a nice even coat was not achieveable. In one place the paint came off together with the tape, and a little bit of bleeding happened too - fixed with a brush. This was the first time I've done a paintjob using masking tape, so on the whole I'm not too displeased with the result:

Cheers gents! Unfortunately, all modelling activity chez moi has ground to a halt: we're in the middle of a heat wave. Air's bone dry, so ABing's out of the question. Sweating so much I can't bear the thought of touching plastic... Sitting and shvitzing is the order of the day...and night

As long as the heat doesn't warp your styrene, you're fine Dierk! Tank's coming along nicely. I think it's kind of cool how they just stuck a bunch of stuff in different spots...but without going too crazy. Things like the fender tools, that dozer blade on the front, etc. Just enough to make it look unique but without making it bizarre.

You found, and pressed the button that makes me go off people As long as the heat doesn't warp your styrene, you're fine Dierk! Tank's coming along nicely. Styrene might not be warping, but I am - my misanthropic base-setting is tied to the mercury: the higher the temps, the shorter my temper... I'm going to keep this short, as I want to switch off the 'puter - don't need the additional heat of it running. Tracks were too long - had to shorten one by a whole ling and the otehr by 3/4 - naturally the latter in an obvious place Oil dot filter, weathering started, gloss coat, decs. Figure to demonstrate the size
