NOTES: It's been pointed out recently that a great number of regular contributors have moved their activity over to Facebook. And they're right. Facebook's deep database allows us to avoid any trouble presented by 3rd party photo-sharing sites. But Facebook is a terrible platform for creating a chronology of a single project, which I find valuable any time I need to show pictures of my older work. Our specie may or may not achieve continuous habitation on the Red Planet. If we do it will be a watershed for not only homo-sapiens but also all of whatever lifeforms should remain on Earth by the time we achieve it. It needs to happen. And the people who do it are going to need a pickup truck. TV and movies have some pretty good ideas. And I have some old armor kits which need to be used for a nobler purpose. Not exactly what I'm looking for, but close: Subtle tools for subtle changes. Two hulls and some styrene. Front end. Aft airlock bulkhead.

Another master piece in the making, no doubt! Mars' lack of magnetic field may prove to be a stumbling block in attempts to colonise it. Weather's a bit bracing too, from what I hear - personally, I wouldn't want to go there for me holidays

your scratch building skills make me want to throw away my model builders card LOL Trade in you modeler's card on sheets of plastic card and do your own! Scratchbuilding is just a game of making enough errors and finding ways to fix them that the errors become less and less frequent. The interior has to be built a little like a ship in a bottle, from the aft section forward. Everything has to be painted and weathered as it goes inside. (The requirements of lighting the interior require it this way.) I'm not happy with the way the seat frame appears to droop down (Note that the cushions however are in proper pitch). But I've got an idea about how to hide it. Getting an early start on Christmas lights.

Facebook is a terrible platform
We can probably just leave it at that, no? 😆 Another killer build in the making! Question about the assembly order - would it have been possible to leave the hulls unattached (upper/lower) to let you mess with the interior more easily?

Question about the assembly order - would it have been possible to leave the hulls unattached (upper/lower) to let you mess with the interior more easily? Possibly, yes. But there's a story about that. There's was this hobby show here in Denver last weekend and our club was sponsoring a sort of "talk to a model builder" event. And the basic tube hull is what emerged on the table by the end of the day. So I decided to work with that. But there is also a kind of trade-off between building on a solid base and leaving things free floating. A solid base is easy to build upon and there are no questions about what the final size or alignments will be. The free floating parts allow for painting and manipulation but can bite you in the ass if something doesn't fit exactly the way you expect. It just comes down to a Jedi-Zen religious belief system in which the practitioner goes purely by instinct and switches off their targeting computer.

Oh boy, strapping in for this ride. Beauty John! No need to strap in. The rover only does about 10mph, tops. You may need to find a handle over rocky terrain. But that’s about it. I mounted the windscreen today but won’t have any pictures until at least Monday.

Daaaaaang. While I love your SW stuff to bits, the fact that this looks good enough to be a plausible near-future vehicle makes it even more impressive. Love it!

This one is almost finished, so I've gone dark with the posts. My hope is to get it done and photographed before Christmas.
