Still trying to run down the stash, so I pulled out a bunch of Tamiya T-34 boxes, just to see what was in them, and I found enough to build a model, almost.... but I had an old resin turret, one of those made on a giant press, and a set of Friuls too. When I bought the turret, a number of years ago, I thought it was cast in gray resin. Turns out it was primered, and had been been sanded on and trimmed, apparently trying to get the two halves to fit. Bummer, since too much was taken off the top half, so I broke out the Aves and started re-constructing. I also started on the hull, with the end result going to be a T-34/76-43 with the "Uralmash" turret and all steel road wheels, admittedly rarely imaged but I do have one drawing of one so equipped, good enough for me. I also get to hammer out something from a collection of parts, always fun. So far: IMG_5139 by Russel Baer, on Flickr

More bits stuck on, small stuff on the turret and hull front, hand holds all over the place (probably incorrectly configured for a Chtz-built tank but I'm making myself dizzy),tie downs on the hull side, exhausts, and of course one big duh, realizing I needed to fill the holes where the big round fuel tank mounts go since I'm not using them. So. Some significant progress lately, assembly finished, primer and green on, and one side of the tracks built up. Makes me happy, seeing Friuls on..... IMG_5790 by Russel Baer, on Flickr

Looks very much like the OT-34 prototype from Uralmesh (no refs handy tho). I don't think it had all steel roadwheels though....very nice and great painting!
The antenna pot was moved to the rear of the turret.

Paul- I'm working from a line drawing only, I don't have any pics of this configuration with all steel wheels, but I had a lot of them in the stash. It's not going to be an OT-34.... or maybe it could be, by gosh. I need to check the stash.

T'anks Leon. Paul, I found an old Warriors OT-34 conversion in the stash, and it does have a nice flame mantlet, but it also has round aux fuel tanks and solid road wheels with solid tires, no perforations, and a T-34/85 illustrated as the subject, so I'm gonna pass on it for now and either stay with the all-steel wheels I have, or use some older solid wheels with perforated tires I also found. Problem is, I have only a few pics of the stamped turreted tanks, and they're mostly of destroyed units, wheels obscured, and one line drawing of what I've built.

T'anks! Turret numbers and washes are finished, still trying to decide if I'll have the turret hatches open or not, but weathering/dusting is next. IMG_7647 by Russel Baer, on Flickr IMG_7646 by Russel Baer, on Flickr I stayed simple on markings, going from a pic in the old Squadron book.

I did a couple of overall washes with some light and dark earth, then did the running gear with a very dark brown and put things together to see how I like it. I think I'll finish the detail painting, add a very small amount of lighter dust using dry pigments and call it finished.
