Thanks for the intel on the cable thread, very useful! Can you repeat the link or location where you got the thread from Rob? I need some better stock myself. Cheers, Ski. Ski here is one of them. Grey Waxed Polyester Twisted Cord String Thread Line 1mmIf you search for twisted nylon cord string, used I think for craft beading, you will find them in various thicknesses and colors. The example above arrived yesterday and might be too thick and so I will use the other two that arrived this week. The one above looks like it will be good for tow cables.

Excellent, thx for he link. I've actually taken some heavy thread from the Mrs.' sewing kit and twisted three threads together for prior projects. It's a pain if ya don't have it handy.

Ski I try to keep nylon and silk beading string on hand for cables, ropes etc. They are cheap on ebay and usually with free shipping.

Well the Lima 604 is 99% done, just have some small touch ups etc left to do and then I can start the base this week. Here are a few final pics for now.

Yet another fine job by our fearless leader. I can easily visualize this thing sitting on the scrap line.

Thanks fellas. Been trying to get some time in on the base for this model this week, but didn't get much done other than cutting a piece of MDF and foam to size lol. Hoping to work on it this weekend. Hardest part is trying to figure out the placement and what I want for groundwork. I'm itching to start using some, or a lot, of Scenic Factory products on this one.

Some progress on the base. Once the groundwork has dried and excess dirt and rocks removed, I will start adding more Scenic Factory vegetation. Hoping to have this project done this week.

excellent work on everything! The crane, the rust, the faded paint, the groundwork. Looks amazing.
A stack of pallets like your second ref photos would be a nice detail to add to the base.

I had thought about that and had some other items to add, but it would have been too crowded or require a much bigger base. The base right now is roughly 12x16".

Just a quick update on the base. I'm still adding vegetation and other groundwork.....slow but steady progress. I will secure the Lima to the base once I am done adding the vegetation etc. then do final touch ups

I've got to hand it to you Rob, you always find ways to create the perfect scene arrangement for even the most mundane of subjects. Nice!

I normally try to keep the base/groundwork simple as not to distract from the model that is the focal point. It's definitely one of the biggest bases I've done so far.

Hi Rob
As always a truly stunning piece of work.
Also thanks for the tip on the thread. Exactly what I have been looking for and duly ordered.
