Laughing here! Actually, I was in Israel a number of years ago, and we enjoyed it so much, we thought it would be fun to do some volunteer work, and I would have been quite happy to have washed tanks as my contribution.

I had a chance to work at the Cavanaugh Flight Museum in Dallas some 20 years ago as a volunteer washing some of the old warbirds. I did that for a few months and then came the move to the Corpus Christi area. Those were fun times.

I bet. Corpus area? We blow through on the way to Port A every now and then. I'll wave next time.

Forgot about this one. The stuff you add to these tank builds of yours is just over the top.

Yikes, long time no post. All I've had time to do is a little detail painting on Gimel, and the beginnings of the color wash on Aleph, to get a lighter sand color appropriate for the period. Gimel: IMG_7716 by Russel Baer, on Flickr IMG_7715 by Russel Baer, on Flickr And Aleph, lighter after a very light wash using Vallejo light mud in alcohol, scrubbed with water and a Q-tip: IMG_7714 by Russel Baer, on Flickr IMG_7713 by Russel Baer, on Flickr I should have taken a pic of the two next to each other, the color difference is very obvious. Gimel will stay darker.

Long time no post here, but I've got Aleph really close now, just the usual details, and I'm thinking about what to do with the bent basket rail. Do I fix it and risk breaking it yet again, or leave it alone, calling it "crew mis-use"? Still to do: outer return rollers, antennae, paint the optics, tow cables, and I'm sure more, I just don't know exactly what yet. Nearly finished, just tow cables and shackles, glossing the cupola optics, and maybe some touch up.....
