Yup, lots of little pieces of stock. I couldn't think of any other way. I looked at a ton of different parts from other kits and just struck out. And yes, one little piece at a time, about two hundred times. Good news is whenever I get back on the Krab I know I can make the extra louvered intakes I need on the turret. They're all rectangular too, should be a little easier.

one little piece at a time, about two hundred times. This statement doesn't surprise me one bit with the quality of building you do. Bravo.

This is like a really good TV series…..a cliffhanger with every update and looking forward to seeing the next episode!!!

I should go to Hollywood and be a scab writer while the strike's still on. Or is it? Anyway, I'm going to break this third build out and start a new thread, mainly for clarity and partly so I can actually wind this thread up. I have crew figs started for the Model B and the weathering on the Magach is coming along nicely, just needs the stowage painting finished and a very light dusting with pastels. I'll get pics up when done, hopefully pretty soon. In the mean time I'll have the latest pics on the "new" one on a new thread.

WHOA! I am glad i didn't miss this. The details especially the grill cover blew me away. Yes, you should sell everything and move to Hollywood to work for the film makers!

Okay. Back to the original two: Weathering is about done on the US tank, halfway into it on the Magach and crew figs in progress. IMG_3936 by Russel Baer, on Flickr IMG_3935 by Russel Baer, on Flickr IMG_3939 by Russel Baer, on Flickr IMG_3938 by Russel Baer, on Flickr The Model B turret crew is further along, nearly ready to drop in. That, along with some grime on the back and antenna should finish it up. The Magach needs some dirtying (new word?), a TC, the last of the stowage and the antenna. After that I might actually be able to called them finished. And imagine this: the SabingaMartin books have pics of Magach 3's during the "War of Attrition", the period between the 6 Day War and the YKW, with unarmored air filter housings covered in sandbags and or empty 105mm ammo boxes as protection from shell splinters and shrapnel from Egyptian artillery. I'm deducing the armored housings were made up as a response to this, before the YKW maybe, since I do have pics of Magach 3's during the YKW with the armored housings. I have enough parts to scrape one more hull together, maybe, or I could use a Takom kit.... hmmm. But first, I have in mind an IDF M60 slick, an AMX-13 and a Centurion Shot. All's I need is time, right?

Great progress on these two 48’s Russel. The IDF one certainly needs more dust, weathering, something… just too clean for a tank in the desert. But I do like where you’re going with this!

I did in fact say Local Hobby Shop. And this is not a commercial plug.. It's called Lionheart Hobbies, located in Kyle, TX, so it's only about 45 minutes from my house, and it's a beautiful drive too. Rudy, the owner along with his new bride, is a former partner in "King's" of Austin which was a fixture for a long time.
I just went there last Saturday and WOW!! So much stuff crammed into a small space. But they have everything you could possibly want. They were at our show in Houston back in May and she remembered me!! I wish I lived closer so I could go more often.

Well golly gosh.... thanks all. I have more progress on the converted Magach 3 so I'll start a new topic, but I promise to have finished pics of this Magach up soon, just waiting on finishing the figs.

Very nice finish! The stowage and dusting looks great! What is the source of the figures that you used on this?

Thanks! Figs... the driver is from the Tamiya Tiran 5 with different arms and the TC is a Hornet head on a torso and arms out of the figgie parts box, probably Tamiya and Academy parts. I've been on a mission to use at least one fig in each model lately, and Hornet heads or the equivalent make a huge difference.

Yeah, figures do make armor models look just that much better if they’re done up right. Thanks for the explanation.

I like the way you've weathered this one up with the dust and the effects on all the equipment hanging off of this tank Russ. Thing looks dang near real in that last shot.
