Hello.
Let me start by saying I'm not new to the hobby. I've been in and out of it for years. I'm a member of FSM and several Facebook clubs.
Joe sent me an invite personally so I could contribute here. He knows how much I love to share my tricks lol.
So I will hopefully be a valuable resource here. I know a lot because I've messed up a lot lol. No better way to know how to fix things in my opinion lol.
I look forward to be part of this community.
-Mike

Welcome!! Can’t wait to see some of your work and your tricks! Thank you. Well most of my "tricks" are typically situational and happen after I've screwed something up, but I do have one I actually just posted on FSM a day ago that does make for a good example of where I'm at skill-wise so you can determine just how useful I might be around here. So I'm working on the Tamiya Sd.Kfz. 222 which is a really well rounded typical Tamiya kit with the turned aluminum barrel for the 20 mil cannon. The figure it comes with is a pretty good one and I got around to painting it up the other night, but I missed something until after I was almost done painting. The figures left epaulette is malformed, which isn't unusual for a Tamiya figure as I find the shoulders are usually the most messed up areas on almost every Tamiya figure I've ever built. You almost always have errors to correct because of the mold seams and because of this I've gotten rather good over the years at correcting that problem. Well I missed this one. I was on the last bit of detail painting on this rather bland figure which was the epaulettes. This particular figure is just a standard Wehrmacht vehicle operator/commander of no rank or decoration whatsoever. So this turned into a small opportunity for a bit of detailing up. You'll see here below the epaulette was just simply missing a small wedge of itself. So how does one go about fixing this issue without having to pull out some sprue glue, putty, or carving the entire thing off and replacing it with plastic card? how do you do this without messing up a couple hours of base layers, washes, clear coats, and detail painting? Well honestly, I'd just said F-it and went to bed. No one will notice and I don't want to have to try and match all of that work to make it seamless later anyways. Tamiya 1/35 SD.Kfz. 222 by Mike Brindos, on Flickr The next morning while I was starting my day with the usual caffeine/nicotine ritual It just popped into my head that I can unobtrusively add the missing bit of epaulette with nothing more radical than a bit of Milliput. Simple, easy, and non-messy. So that's what I did and it was probably one of the easiest fix's I've ever come up with. Tamiya 1/35 Sd.Kfz. 222 by Mike Brindos, on Flickr As long as you get a general shape with Milliput you can maneuver it and shape it with a wet paintbrush. You just smooth it into position with no sanding later. Generally quite helpful for small details. Since I was fixing the epaulette anyways I decided to add the dumb little buttons I usually skip over. I mean, this guy really has nothing of note to draw the eye with anyways, so why not? Tamiya 1/35 SD.Kfz. 222 by Mike Brindos, on Flickr Waiting for the Milliput to harden enough to start painting was the biggest issue I had with this trick. I didn't have to repaint anything but the epaulettes. In the end I even had a bit more visual interest in a rather boring figure who simply sits on a turret ring staring blankly into unknown space. But here's how he turned out in the end. Tamiya 1/35 Sd.Kfz. 222 by Mike Brindos, on Flickr I do like painting up the figures lol. I do hope you Mods will forgive me for posting this here, but I'm so new I don't know where these types of tips will likely end up right now. I'm sure there's a thread specifically for this, but I haven't ventured around enough yet. Besides, I think I've given you guys a firm grip on how I could be of help around here. Usually I just post such things in whatever current thread I'm working in and show how I fix my screw-ups as I've just made them. I assure you, I'm a pretty good modeler and I'm pretty good at helping others as well. Just let me know if I can help in any way.

Well, well, well. I am seeing some familiar names here.
Tojo, Carlos, good to see your familiar call signs. Looks like I'll be in very good company here.
Thank you all, for the warm welcome. I was starting to wonder why FSM was kinda slow lol. Looks like my favorite artists are over here, which is good because I started a project that I might need some help with. My M-60 "Blazer" project I started over on FSM stalled, then took a dramatic turn into resin land and im sure its not accurate at all. I have around four or five boxes of incomplete kits that my father raided for his own builds and that's left me with a lot of pieces for customized mongrels.
That just might be my starter thread here. Building a few mutts lol.
To save space I'll probably just start one thread with all of the many things I've been working on lately just to catch you guys up. I've kinda been all over the place with my builds and I don't want to do what I've done over at FSM and start 20 threads of incomplete works. I'll just keep it neat and simple to start off.
It will be a bit of repeating what's on FSM already though. So I hope that's okay.
