Hey Gary, no worries on the name thing mix up Dad like most vet's didn't say much about his time in North Africa and Italy, except for one memorable Friday night when he told us a bunch of stories including how he was injured in Italy by a German MG nest and being sent to prison for two weeks for stealing a Jeep! I have his paybook, medals and cap badge, some of my most treasured possessions. R:) Hey Richard, Im sure your very proud and to have those personal treasures, those memories will never be forgoten. My Dads father Fought in WWI His name Was Earnest H. Boggs. He is in the Book Of Heros for actions in France. Dad always said he didnt want to talk about what he saw during the war. Id love to know the stories, but i understand his position on the matter. Some things better left unsaid i suppose. Anyways, Thanks for sharing that with us. Gary

Hi Fellas, Thanks fellas! Captain Cave Man? I have definatley ressembled that remark, Club and all! especially back in my ridein and partyin days! ;D Got another update this evening. I have built the throat mic, attatched the bag w/strap, canteen, and a antenna. I may replace the antenna with stretched sprue to have the tapered look to more resemble the real one. Ill probably make a small buckel for the bag strap too. Ill have her wrapped up by next update. Im negotiateing a trade with a fella for a Kubelwagon w/desert tires set to possibly add to the plans, which would mean another figure or two. well have to see how that all pans out as to whether i start back on the Rommel or move on to a new build in the meantime. Anyways, heres where im at now. By bbd468 at 2012-06-20 By bbd468 at 2012-06-20 By bbd468 at 2012-06-20 By bbd468 at 2012-06-20 Thanks for looking gentlemen! Gary

Hello Fellas, Well im gonna call it done for now. Its not 100% complete but waiting to see what happens with the kubelwagon trade and possible extra figures, im going to shelf it for a while and move on to something else, an easy breezy build. Im going to start the Tamiya 1/48 M-4 Sherman "Hurricane" on D-Day+. Not sure if i can come up with the wadeing stacks as im pretty busted for cash, but well see. Anyways, here she be one more time. Oh that looks wonderfull, may I ask what paints/technique you used for the wood on the guns? They look fantastic.

Gary, that is one awesome build and a excellent finish. It just goes to show that modelling on a budget achieves fantastic results, silk purse and sow's ear comes to mind, something I think we can all take from this build. I love it, mate. Cheers R:) Hey Richard, Thanks for the nice comment. Instead of a silk purse ill think of it more like a nice pair of boots from a Gator's tail. ;D

Oh that looks wonderfull, may I ask what paints/technique you used for the wood on the guns? They look fantastic. Hi merseajohn, No problem man. I base coat my rifles with Vallejo Panzer Aces Old Wood and of course the metal is painted black. I then take a very sharp dark brown colored pencil and draw wood grain on. I then seal that with Vallejo Matt. Once dry i paint a coat of Burnt Sienna oil paint. After that i set the rifles aside a few days while working on something else and when the oil paint is pretty dry ill take a dry Q-tip/Cotton bud And gently wipe from front to back till i like what i see. I will then seal it again with Vallejo matt. Then ill give it the old graphite treatment and VOILA!!! Thanks for the kind words too! Gary
