Chaps. Luigi, thanks buddy, so far so good! Martyn, get one (or two), you won't be disappointed. ER, you're right but I enjoy building more than painting so I'm trying to make it last. Eth, hi fella. I have distant memories of how Airfix kits built up or in some cases didn't so I was a tad concerned before I started. I'm well into the build now and up to this point, the fit has been 100% spot on. Gary, thanks mate. It's a brand new one from Airfix and I really hope they continue to release more 1/48 modern armour subjects. Ok chaps, brief update. Rear half of the running gear attached to the front along with the cab sides. And one more for today with the bed installed and the first detail parts being added. So far, it's all gone really well, enjoying it. ;D

Nice clean build so far mate, and considering it is 1/48th scale, the detail looks good as well, no unrecognisable blobs.

Have not been involved with an Airfix kit since the seventies, they look as they've come a long way. You're making this one look mighty good in any case.
Regards, Mark

Hi chaps. Gosh, very kind of you to take time to comment on one of my dull blogs, it's really appreciated. Quicky for you. Front of the vehicle assembled which is both quite complex and fragile. Crew steps and mirrors are molded onto the main front part and need care to avoid disasters. Then the only teeny downside to the kit, the tyres. I believe they are correct just not for the vehicle in this configurattion. Compare following pic to the box art at the beginning of the blog which does show the correct tread pattern. It's a shame as Airfix have even taken the time to flatten the bottoms so they even sit right. Resin replacements will be available but the Manufacturer / Supplier called Gaso.Line are not expecting deliveries to hit customers until early next year. I will finish the build then park it while I wait for the replacements...

Great details the kit has I have to say! Molded mirrors? They would be knocked off in heartbeat at my end... clumsy I am!

Great progress Prof, this is a gem of a kit . The tyres aside, the big A has done a great job. I'm looking forward to seeing this painted up so , are you going to fix the wheels with blutack of something and 'paint up ' or leave them off altogether ?

Hey guys.
Thanks for the kind words. No paint as I simply have nowhere to paint anything and won't have for quite some time, god knows it's hard to find places to stick stuff let alone get the compressor out! I might be able to prime it as that comes in a rattle can but to be honest it's too cold for that anyway...
Final build pics tomorrow, some elements will be temporarily held together with white glue for the benefit of the pic, then I can easily break it down again when / if I get to a situation where I am freely able to paint again.
