After a relaxing vacation in Florida I am ready to start my #12 build. It is probably one of insufficiently appreciated vehicles that helped win the war... 21,147 units were built by end of the war. Even the Brits loved them so much that they ordered 1,440 units. It saw a lot of actions in both theaters and Korea War... Yes, something Allied and something green! Promised my boys I will not always build something German... Only three and a quarter sprues... this time I am doing it O-O-B!!! O-O-B?!? Really?!? You think I would do that one day? Unfortunately I consider myself an AM whore so here's the good stuff! I was so fortunate to grab those long discontinued MIG resin wheels set for only $15 on evilBay. More goodies... Nice details... I really want my Duck to my overloaded with stowage if possible like this... Maybe more organized stowage because of my mild OCD thing. Messy drives me nuts! The one and only reference book... Normally I prefer Squadron 'Walk Around' books but the shop had this copy on sale and I found plenty of good walk around pics on internet. PHOTO FOR DISCUSSION PURPOSE ONLY... really like Brit's camo job but I am going GREEN to make Uncle Tony happy this time. Planning to create a diorama base for this too and this time I am going to add water for the first time. LOL

Good thing there are aftermarket sets for this. You'd hate to have to sculpt the eyes on the potatoes.

Should be a good build Andy, I like the British camos and the white later example but I'm sure you'll liven the green up

Thanks guys! Knew I could count on you too... MK- LOL! But you have given me an idea to do something about the potatoes... they kinda look too clean in my opinion. Leon- Thanks... still not sure how much stowage I am going to add. Will see how it goes when the Duck is built but there's always room for cases of beer and wine. Clint- Hey buddy! Thanks... hope it will come out good. This time I am going to try those AK green slimey stuff... that's the main reason I want to build this... Luigi- LOL! Other than US helicopters, yes I have built an Allied armor before and it was M24 Chaffee... long before I learned about color modulation and stuff. I will do my best to build something green at least once a year... happy to have you aboard my friend! I think I did better job on the figures than the tank itself... it was my first time using LifeColor paint sets and I fell in love immediately. Dan- Thanks... glad to have you board too!!! Steve- Same here... Brit camo looks so sexy. The Marines had theirs painted camo too for Pacific theater. Maybe I will grab another duck kit as I see good deals often at shows.. John- Happy to have you tagging along... now I have to work harder because I know you want to see it next year at the show, right? LOL Sure I will take pictures of both wheels when I have the chance... great suggestion there! Looks like you owe me a beer or two for bringing the warmer weather here from Florida? Mr T- Diet Coke? Did you meant to say Diet Coke and rum? I don't drink soda anymore but only if they are spiked with booze for pleasure purpose. Congrats about your recent 6,000th post if you noticed? LOL Always happy to have you aboard!

Mack- Happy to have you aboard buddy! You are probably going to chuckle at this... I was fortunate to stand next to working Ducks and it was not here in USA but in London!!! It was hauling tourists up and down the streets and Thames River. God, wish I rode it but it was long before I returned to the hobby.

LOL! You guys sure know how to crack me up! G- I recall you are big fan of green too! Dicky- You really made me laugh out that it caught my wife's attention and she loved it too. She hopes to meet you too some day! That stern shot will probably help me BIG time... can't figure out where I should stick the rudder on. Luigi- Good one buddy! Safe to say everybody loves Ducky more than Mickey... Can't wait to start building... was planning earlier today then a freak accident happened that I cut my finger badly while washing my wife's tea cup! It broke in half and its edge sliced thru the tip of finger... blood every where. FUN! Now my wife is making me cook a big dinner on the grill... this time I am not complaining. Hope to some pictures tonight!

Mack- Now you are giving me the itch to find out where is the closest operating DUKWs here in USA. I believe in Wisconsin or Missouri at Branson.
Dicky- OMG! That's one huge ferkin' duck! I don't think it will fit inside your bath tub at all...
Chris- Four wheels? Now I have to look into this too. LOL Thanks buddy!

Leon- Now I have plenty to help me build it... Bill- Always a pleasure to have you tagging along. Not sure how much you can help me this time since it is not have the color of either Dunky or Panzer Grey unless you have plenty of very rare pictures of ducks to share?

Andy
I am in. My father drove one when he was in. I used to have a leftover TM from him but haven't seen it in years. You should have stopped by when you were in Florida and said hello!

Mike- How cool about your father! Wondering if he has pictures? I wish we could have met... I think Venice is about 5-6 hours or even longer from where you live? Joe- Let's say I had a very relaxing vacation recently... so it will be an Allied this time. LOL Always happy to have you along. Gary- Glad I am not alone... we all are getting old. I have called you wrong names and you lost my thread. We are even now... whew! LOL Glad to have you aboard. Tried to start tonight but my finger was still bleeding from the cut this morning so it was out however went thru the instructions few times and mark all parts to be replaced with PE or AM parts. Watching one of my all-times favorite movies right now on Military Channel... 'Heartbreak Ridge'!

It has started!!! I've got it bookmarked! Super cool idea and I love the stowage! You're right about the super detail in that set, but there are some jumbo "bakers" in that crate of taters:). Cant' wait to see the water. That's something I've been wanting to try as well. Gonna love this build.
"Urinating on a Police vehicle....seemed like the thing to do at the time... " "Panther Piss!!!" That's one of my favs too! It's no Saving Private Ryan, but boy you can't go wrong with a little Clint;) I just watched "the Good, the Bad, and The Ugly" the other day!
Oh, and they still use the DUKs at Wisconsin Dells too!

DickyF
Liked the front to aft shot, used to have ducks when I was a kid, they can be a kick to watch.
Andy
I have the military manual for the DUKW in pdf format if you want a copy give me an address it was quite an amazing vehicle that only war could create, I would think that a run of them would sell but with all the enviro and safety requirements maybe not.

Oh my, that's another one I have in my stash, too! Mr. Aftermarket take a look at this: thachweave.tripod.com/Those bumpers are really sweeeet! If you are mad enough you can make them yourself perhaps. I did for my GPA (roll eyes), but these were smaller so no big deal. The knot was a round crown sinnet, if you want to search youtube for how-to-do videos.
