Here’s a quick preview of the new AEC MkII Armoured Car from MiniArt; kit# 35155. Just a word of warning it’s picture heavy.
Boxart
The AEC Armoured Car was a series of heavy armoured cars built by the Associated Equipment Company (AEC) during the Second World War. The first example was demonstrated in early 1941, and an order was placed in June of that year.
The first version (MkI which is my favourite and also planned by MiniArt) was fitted with a Valentine Mk II turret with a 2 pounder.
This later Mk II version had heavier turret with a 6 pounder gun, redesigned front hull, 158 hp diesel engine and weighed 12.7 tons
Many of the MkII’s served with the8th Army in North Africa, Sicily, and Italy although some served in Europe alongside the Staghound. In 1944 a batch of AEC armoured cars was send into Yugoslavia for use by partisans and were used more than 10 years. Belgium used them until the 1950’s.
After WWII, some AEC’s were in use by some countries up to the 1970s.
This Highly detailed model contains 487 styrene parts and 44 PE parts and decals. Kit features include…
• Full-colour instructions • All New Tooling. Up-to-date technology using sliding moulds. • Fully detailed interior • Highly detailed engine compartment • Engine is accurately represented • Fighting compartment is fully reproduced • Crews vision periscopes with clear plastic parts • Driving compartment interior is fully detailed • All doors and hatches can be assembled open or closed • Slide-moulded tires in styrene
