I agree with the guys above, great progress on this one. The PE looks quite interesting, looking forward to seeing it done

These are the 'super' Griffon barrel sets Dupes, the regualar barrel sets don't come with as much detail for the magazines and other items. Nice to see you making good progress Boyd even if you have to post it in crayon!

If I hadn't spent an hour plus last night cleaning up and drilling out the kit barrels, I would do it! That, and having to wait for it to come from China (vs spruebros in a couple of days) would kill my build.

Hey guys
Thanks, again, for the kind words.
Unfortunately, I had to come up to Maine for some family business and am not sure when I'll get back home to the bench. So that means you guys have to start bugging dupes to post an update or two. He'll have to carry the thread while I am away.

Been following along and like where this is heading. That's some cool PE for the ammo. Good thing it's you and not me having to put those together...lol

Scratchmod
Thanks for following. I hope you'll be pleased where this finally ends up. I have a vision in my mind, if I can just pull it off. It sucks that I had to leave when I was on such a roll at the bench!

Been plugging away on the PE set...lots of small parts (as you might imagine!). Got talked into a 30 hour cycling challenge - 30 hours of riding in 15 days - which is killing my usually steady hands! I'll get it done. Hopefully get some progress pics up soon, too.

2 hours a day doesn't sound that bad...but it depends on the roads and the weather! Keep plugging away at the PE dupes, it's only metal!

Hey Fellas, Sorry for the extended absence, but as I said I had to go to Maine for some family "stuff". I ended up being there for 8 days, got back on Sunday and have just managed to get caught up enough that I can turm my attention back to the bench. I believe that before I left I had shown that I'd begun work on the gun: My latest efforts have focused on the replacement barrels and PE from Griffon: I have to admit that I was a little stumped at first. In order for the new barrels to be the same length as the kit ones, I had to cut the plastic ones in front of the recoil housing: However, the curve armor plate that fits over that housing would not fit correctly with them cut that way, AND it just looked funky to have the extra length of the recoil housing. However, after reading reviews of 2cm Flak replacement barrels on the PMMS site, I concluded that, apparently, the Tamiya kit barrels are too long. So, I went ahead and cut them 'correctly' Next, I turned my attention to the magazine feed throats that attach to the side of each gun. The PE pieces from Griffon are really nice, the folds are pretty easy. I'll just need to spend some time tonight with the soldering iron to tighten things up: So, that's where I stand right now. Hope to get some more banged out tonight and tomorrow. Hope to have an update soon.

Good to see you back on this one Boyd! You're right about the Tamiya barrels, they are too long. The Griffon barrels are the right length (and look a whole lot better too!). Keep at it!

Off and running. MUCH better with the turned metal barrels.
Dupes, have a good, and safe ride bro. Been ages since I was last in the saddle. Sold both my road bikes about 11 years ago.

I sure did today Rob! 100 solo miles...just about done with the whole challenge with two days to spare. Going to give the meat pistons a few days off - which means lots and lots of bench time! Re: barrels - so NOW you guys tell me that the Tamiya kit barrels are too long. All that cleanup and drilling...
