Hi you all Looking at the M40/M12 comparison photo I posted the M12 looked awful naked without its tracks. So today I dug out my DML DS T48 set and went to work on em. They were one link to long so I cut one out and glued it back together. I gator clamped the splice until it was stuck good then took some balsa wood and clamped the tracks sandwich style till cured. When DS tracks first came on the scene and hobby paint was flaking off it was suggested that you spray them with auto paint first and that seems to have solved the problem. When dry I then sprayed them with Tamiya Nato Black. Tomorrow i'll paint the end caps and horns. Thanks for checking in Tony lee

Chris When the Kit first came out and people were talking about the barrel was a scale foot too short just like their Long Tom kit I waited until one of the guys figured out a mod to correct it, then bought it. I'm just now building it because there were newer SPG kits out that I couldn't live without. The original fix post has long disappeared but you can still find sites that have discussed it. Cheers Tony lee

You'll have to agree, tracks do add character. The AFV drive sprockets are a little too narrow for the DS tracks but they may settle in after they sit awhile. See Ya Later,my back needs a break. Tony lee

Coming along nicely Tony! Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the rear lights on WW2 vehicles only had the top left red and the other three were black, no?

Bill I used Redneck logic= If they were going to black out the right side why would they even put a tail light on that side So I put a red lens on the top. Where are those Sherman expert in a time of crises? ?? H E L P Tex you sure know how to shake up a perfectly great day, you know that Tony lee

I had to play a little catch up on this Tony, but thoroughly enjoyable!! Fantastic work my friend!! The color, the tracks the usual stowage...perfect!! I could be wrong and one of the Shermie experts might be able to shed some light but that light was left so when running dark, the tanker behind could see what to follow. An old-timer talked about it on one of the documentaries...only reason he didn't run off the road or get lost was by keeping his eyes peeled on the red light of the tank in front of him....going only by what I heard I guess.

Here's a thought: With all that crap hangin on the rear maybe with only the left it would not be visible with a bad angle. Redneck logic again Found this, looks like a training photo but check out the tail lights. Look like one lens on the left and all others blanked out. Your turn Tony lee
