Alright fellas, figured I should start the year off right by knocking something out ASAP. Get the ball rolling, as it were. The kit is this one: Started in on this guy January 1 in the afternoon - here's where I'm at three days later. Shouldn't have taken so long, but the instructions are a bit vague as to locations of some items, and that radio antenna was a wicked beotch to assemble (almost an extra day just getting that right). Going to start hurling some panzer gray at it tomorrow!

I always forget with 1/72 how much time you spend just a) cleaning up the sprue attachment points and b) crawling around on the floor looking for miniscule bits that went pinging off of the bench when you try to pick them up with tweezers. Lucky I have everything glued on there!

Thanks guys! Yeah, the newer DML kits in braille are pretty awesome (heck, so are the older ones) as far as detail goes. Fit is pretty solid too. Now if only they'd work on the instructions...

Lucky I have everything glued on there! I know what you mean wrt little bits flying off. Try making your own "grab sticks" using some round toothpicks with tips dipped a couple of times in beeswax. If you don't have any, buy a beeswax candle, you could buy one for the wife/ girlfriend and then steal it for your own nefarious use. :-) I think you an buy them but I made about a hundred for zero cost, and that supply should last me and my mates a lifetime. Cheers, Brett

Minor snafu - accidentally deleted the pics between the last post and where we stand right now. No biggie! While I had the NATO Black out to paint the wheels, I gave the entire vehicle a coat to prime and help with shadows. Afterwards went with straight Tamiya German Gray, then a couple of additional coats with increasing levels of white added. Wanted to try the AK Panzer Gray modulation set out, but between the size of this thing (small!) and that damn antenna over the top, I wouldn't be able to apply it accurately. Note to self - when doing the 1/35 version of this thing, leave the antenna off until the end! Future coat, decals, flat coat, and here's where we are now: Ready for weathering and detail painting tomorrow!

Apologize for the out-of-focus pics...not sure how to make my camera do what I want it to do with a 3" subject in macro mode.
Looking at these again, I think my panel fading needed some more contrast - can't really make it out so well.

AHHHH! I am doing 232... thanks for the tip about leaving the antenna off. It depends how easy it is to glue them on without ruining the paint job.
It is looking great!!!

They have a bunch of other 1/72 stuff on sale as well (I bought a bunch for $6-$8 each).
One note about this kit - zero positive fit on the wheels. Entirely up to you to make sure they're aligned properly!

Thanks again fellas!
Using the AK PG Weathering set, started with the blue filter this morning before work. Any of you guys used this stuff before? Seemed verrry dense straight out of the bottle. Interested to see what the dry effect is when I get home.

I noticed it was very dense too especially AK Dust effect... I thin it a bit to tone it down as it nearly ruined my helicopter last year.
