Trumpeter JGSDF Type 87 update 11/04 FINISHED !!

Into the fray I go with this little beauty and also continuing my love affair with JGSDF and weird vehicles this fits the bill nicely. I believe that the trumpy boxing is actually a straight copy of the pit road type 87. In the box you get a small etch fret, solid plastic tyres and a few figures to boot. Not bad at all from a kit which trumpy brought out quite a few years ago now. The details are excellent so apart from what I can add from scratch no after market at all (that's also cos there aint that much available)

Well here's the model after quite a few hours cleaning up flash and ensuring the lower and bottom hull lined up correctly. I had to re scribe the side hatches then added weld lines using mr surfacer. Looks really space age I think and really cool. The wheels are really nice and chunky too. The turret needed loads of clean up and I had to carefully straighten the gun barrel which was slightly bent!

the exhaust has had a new pipe added using an old radio aerial cut to the appropriate angle. I've also started removing molded on handles and hatch catches which I will replace later with brass rod. I can now start on the suspension then start adding and improving where needed.

Oh yes Dupes they are really nice.
Progress has been slow due to sitting on my arse at work doing bugger all and mrs snipers decorating chores but I've managed to get the hull almost done. New handles made from plastic card and various other bits added. The mirrors and brackets where awful so brass rod was used for the supports and I'm making up mirrors with plastic card.

Looking good Pete. I fancy those Japanese vehicles from Trumpy- the NBC variant and the AIFV are what I have my eye on. Really cant wait to see this one finished.
