No idea, sorry. Have you tried asking our common friend? He's such a soviet expert... Good idea Luigi - waiting for a reply from him. Got a bit done over the last few days: Primed and white/black shading: Wash, grime and first coat of paint (1ml destilled water, 3 drops black, 6 or 7 drops 4BO) Second coat of paint - same mix: Third coat: Here I threw caution to the wind and used 10 drops of 4BO! Some of the detail painting done, decals applied. After much deliberation on how to do the air-recognition stripe I remembered something I played around with as a teenager to do white-washes. Blackboard chalk mixed with water. Turned out OK IMHO: Getting the chassis and bodywork together took a serious clamp, copious amounts of penetrating CA and pressing stuff together with fingers (whilst trying to avoid letting them become part of the model too) As previously mentioned, the seats are devoid of any sort of texture and being almost completely anglicised by now the solution I came up with are used teabags, and as I had some left I made up the canvas doors of the same material - the kit parts look OK but are much too thick: Comments (good or bad) always welcome. Thanks for looking, Dierk

Stunning result Dierk. What 4BO make is it?

Had to play a little catch up here Dierk, sorry bout that, been too busy to find my own arse lately!
For what you are dealing with on this one, you are making some excellent progress!! Very unfortunate that the instructions and the level of the kit itself does not seem to meet what we have become to expect from Trumpy. I typically do like the assembly of a Trumpeter kit and have found some irregularities in the instructions, but nothing to this magnitude as of yet. It may be me but it almost makes me want to think that as a result of haste on the part of Trumpeter to bring a kit to market they might have used one of the sections of their manufacturing they use to outsource to other companies like maybe Fugumi. They most likely have a completely different team that work all of the particulars as seen with the instructions and molds. Just a thought
Back on track...Keep plugging away there she/he is coming along nicely!!

This one's coming along nicely in the paint department Dierk! The teabag solution for the seats and doors is a nice touch and also adds more realism as you point out.

Just a thought Back on track...Keep plugging away there she/he is coming along nicely!! Thanks for joining - better late than never (I'll refrain from making a snide comment about Americans always coming to the party late lol) That was pretty much my impression about Trumpy wanting a slice of the X-mas pie and rushing it - such a pity! You have to wait several decades for a new GAZ kit and then it turns out to be such a turkey (should have released it for Thanksgiving!) It is possible to turn it into a decent model, but shake and bake it ain't! And the 'instructions' really are beyond a joke. Love the look of weary identification stripe!!! Keep it coming... Glad you're liking it Andy - only remembered that I used to use chalk for winter white-washes when I came across a box of my old models. This one's coming along nicely in the paint department Dierk! The teabag solution for the seats and doors is a nice touch and also adds more realism as you point out. Thankfully a friend in England had sent us some more tea - German teabags are much smaller and, well...German rofl-roll. So, enough of the back and forth, time to go onward and upwards: the front wheels fit really well - so well you can get away without using glue - the rear wheels on the other hand...the fit is about as tight as a hamster mating with an elephant dark-thoughts. Something I managed to disguise in the photos is that the wheels don't all touch the ground - I blame the badly fitting 15 part assembly of the front axle... Anyway, pictures are worth a thousand words. The idea behind this is that the GAZ crew just had to change a tyre: I'm going to try and make a base for it - but don't hold your breath, I'm only just starting to get the hang of the modelling malarkey. After my last attempt of dusting by AB went really badly wrong, I practised on a couple of 'models' from my old stash. I gave up on the ready mixed enamel based stuff and mixed my own from Vallejo colours using Khaki and Ivory: As always there are a couple of things I'm not completely happy with, but on the whole I'm quite pleased with how it turned out - I'd go as far as to say this is my best model yet. Hope you're liking it, comments - as always - welcome. Dierk

The result is really wonderful, Dierk. I like the idea of the new tyre, it adds contrast to the build. I truly love the outcome, if it wasn't for all you said, I'd be running for one

Now that you've seen most of the pitfalls this kit has to offer it shouldn't be too much of a challenge for you - forewarned is forearmed.

The wheel change is a nice touch! Given how much this one fought you, it's a miracle it's still in one piece.

Thanks for the good feedback Andy and Pete! The wheel change is a nice touch! Given how much this one fought you, it's a miracle it's still in one piece. I'm as surprised as you - before fitting the wheels the model suffered a gravity-related incident and hit the deck. All that came off was the windscreen! Now that you've seen most of the pitfalls this kit has to offer it shouldn't be too much of a challenge for you - forewarned is forearmed. LOL, I don't know if I want to face all that It's sad as that is the perfect dio complement... I don't blame you - I don't think I ever want to build another one. But I'm glad I did it once. As we're having some early spring-like weather, I think I'm going to take a bit of a break before starting my next project. I quite fancy a nice little OOB - there's a HobbyBoss T-37 in the post winging its way to me. Cheers - despite this build being a bit of a PITA I'm really chuffed with how it turned out. Dierk

Here it's back to winter weather. Heavy rains, thunderstorms, low temps (it's 7°C at midday) Hope it ends soon.

Well done Dierk! Looking forward to seeing a nice base for her!! Your wish is my command sir - it is my first attempt at a vignette since getting hooked on styrene again: My idea behind this is that the last bits of snow are hanging on, before spring gets going properly: Hope you like it, comments, ramblings, rhubarb welcome. Cheers, Dierk

Wonderful result from a truly antagonistic kit! I like the base, makes the little car look abandoned. Maybe one German, gazing into the distance, wondering where the owners got off to?

Cheers gents, glad you're liking it! Wonderful result from a truly antagonistic kit! I like the base, makes the little car look abandoned. Maybe one German, gazing into the distance, wondering where the owners got off to? I'd have liked to have added a figure, but I'm stuck in Gemermany, many miles from home, with very limited resources...and no figures. You'll just have to imagine that the owners just popped out of view for either a pee, or a vodka break. rofl-roll
