A little background on the design. The SandStalker is a fictional hover tank/armored car from the SF3D/Ma.K.3000 sci-fi model series created by Kow Yokoyama and friends in the mid 1980s. The series ran as monthly installment in Hobby Japan magazine for a couple of years. Each installment included 2-3 original scratch builds and a storyline that placed the design into the established universe. The original 222F SandStalker was based on a 1/35 Tamiya German 222 Armored Car with lots of putty and scratch building. It operated with the Mercenary Independent Army. The "good guys".
A little background on Hexamodel. Hexamodel is a relatively new garage kit manufacturer focusing on SF3D/Ma.K. 3000 resin kits. They specialize in the large and rare designs for vehicles and ships that have never been kitted before. Hexamodel has a close working relationship with Kow and have access to his original scratch builds for reference. Most of the part masters start as 3D scans of Kow's originals. The parts are all designed in 3D, printed as high resolution masters, and cleaned up. They pressure cast everything so there is very little flash or bubbles. Hexamodel has a license agreement with Kow that allows them to run a web store which allows you to shop for kits at any time. Some items are poured to order.
The Sand Stalker SDH. 223F is an original design based on their prior release of the 222F SandStalker. It follows the same functional design aesthetic as the German Sd. Kfz. 223 armed reconnaissance car from WWII. It has a smaller turret armed only with a MG34 and features a collapsible frame antenna. It's not totally cannon, but sure looks the part.
This kit isn’t a copy of their 222 kit with new parts. They have improved the masters and added additional details which greatly add to the kit. Some small details which were previously molded to the hull are now separate parts with better detail. The version now includes a full interior - driver's section, fighting compartment, and engine are all highly detailed and cast in light gray resin.
The kit also includes all the brass rod and tube, plus vinyl tubing you will need and two small frets of PE for the debris screens. No decals or markings are provided. The instructions are as good or better than many major kit manufactures.
All parts shown are direct from the bags with no clean up. The castings stubs are small and easy to remove.
