I'd leave it green. No expert, I, but I've seen lots of pictures that show no markings. I also recall reading at Stalingrad the Soviets were sending unpainted T-34's into action so one can assume they were not over concerned with unit designation. Fine job Regards, Mark Hey Mark, I think i don't go for the turret markings. I have some photo's of T-34 1940 models, with aerial recognition marks (white triangle) on it. Just have to figure out when this was introduced. The T-34's that hit the front unpainted is a myth. The need for armor was high, but not desperate. Some vehicles were send with only the 4bo green color, and no primer was added first. So they rusted very quickly. Some tanks actually hit the front without sighting, while you must aim through the barrel. Most people also didn't know, is that the T-60 light tank also was produced/ asambled in Stalingrad (factory No. 264). The addition of the T-60 in the battle, is vastly underestimated. They played a important role in the defense of Stalingrad.

I think i don't go for the turret markings. I have some photo's of T-34 1940 models, with aerial recognition marks (white triangle) on it. Just have to figure out when this was introduced. The white triangle on the turret roof was very common in the summer of 1941, especially in the south. They also used circles, squares and bands in combination with the circles. They were supposedly changed at regular intervals. I like the one below, partly because it has a cast turret and patly because it has the three-colour camouflage. It's on my bucket list to build. It is. Production at STZ was halted some weeks before the factory was overrun. The factory was active repairing tanks in the final days. These were of course already painted. It's a good story, though. Regards Scott Fraser

Busy with the tracks. These are the AFV club ones. I sanded out the extra grip in the tracks, using a file. Track fit is oke, but could be better. Lot of friction between the tracks. Also i use metal wire for track pins. These are stronger than the plastic ones.

Busy with the base... I am missing 4cm road. I looked at my stash, but all roads are different. I tried to replicate it with some lose stones, with no result. I think i have to pay a visit to my online dealer...

Finaly, the AFV Club are done. This was a true horrible experience. I wish i had my good old trusty Masterclub tracks. I probably could have done it in less than half the time. The tank is finnished. Figures are ready, and now is the focus on the base. Photo's will follow soon.

Hmm, i think i am going to add another figure. Its a figure from masterbox. Todd has made a nice review of this box. I want to add one of the two German soldiers, behind some loggs or rock...

Thanks deano! I love T-34's, so when you start, i wouldn't miss it!
Glad to have you on board Wingnut!!
Just put the clay on the diorama base. Now i have to wait till its dry, then slap on the wooden sides for a better look.

I think i used a bit to much of clay. Now its dry. Busy with ''cleaning up'' and ''sharpening'' the detail on the masterbox figure. It surpriced me, how nice they are made.

Figures cleaned and ready for primer... Its a lot of figures. So i think i only will post the painting of set T-35105 "soviet tanker & german infantryman". This wil keep things less complicated. The other figures wil have the same treat, as the soviet tanker (or i will post the other set later...)

That entry cleared a lot! Have an ICM/Revell T-34/76 here and some Russian mountain infantry, and wasnt sure if it would fit. BTW your work looks very convincing so far.

Its been a looooong time for this build to continue. I was disapointed. I wanted to add a sixth figure to "complete" the story. Going thru my stash, buying a new set from Masterbox could not forefill the story. Recently i was looking on the CMK site and found what i was looking fore! Its a set of two figures. A Soviet nurse treating a German wounded soldier. Perfect! The German soldier was the figure i needed to complete my diorama
