The fly boy is almost done only still a few small things to do, i was thinking what to do next. The outcome was a figure from the new Mad max movie (not seen yet)because there are no bust of it so I had to sculpt something and I don't have much experience in sculpting so a nice practise and a lot of fun off course. I started with a bust that I got from Evilbay some time ago. Firs I did was made some drawings where everything has to go. Started with his teeth. Then the nose piece off his mask. And some other parts from the mask. This was done in three sessions, next step is added the leather parts off the mask and try to figure out how to do the hair

Love it, great choice, great start! What sculpey do you use?? And I see no reason to get the surface smoother, because the original isn´t smooth at all. What scale??

Thanks friends When I was searching on Google for some info about the movie I saw this figure and was sold, it`s so weird with that mask and eyes that i must try to make one Frank the scale is 1/10 and I use Magic Sculp. I have already done some smoothing the way you told me in you re topic and I`m very happy with this method.

Cool it works! It´s a great choice (and after seeing the trailer of the new MAD MAX and reading he will be rated R, what can go wrong with it, hehe!) and I think will look really cool when finished: interesting design and lots of stuff for the eyes.

Nicely detailed there Ron, the face looks really menacing! I was trying to find a link for sculpting hair for you a few days ago but can't find it in anymore in my bookmarks..it was very insightful with a method of heating up the knife to get the hair super detailed. Looks like you didn't need it as the hair looks great! Everyone has caught the sculpting bug lately and it's a good thing! All of the guys are branching out artistically in a different medium...roll on sir!

As for sculpting hair: On 54mm and plastic kits, you can use a pyrogravur set from Historex with a needle that gets hot and can detail plasitic like hell. OK, that was yesterday. For sculpting hair these days, begin with the "masses" and how THEY fell, than detail them. Do not try to reproduce it hair for hair, that would not look to cool because of the scale effect.

Thanks guys glad you re like it Shay, funny that you mentioned that about sculpting the hair wat a hot/warm tool I think I have read the same article, that guy work with other stuff that I use I don't remember the name of it what he use. Frank, Top notch that's not how I see it But I`m happy so far with the results and the mistakes but that's normal still learning to sculpt something and you can only learn from you re mistakes. Next weekend I`m in Germany there is a contest in Heiden and hope to find there one ore two missing sculpting tools.

Aha! I haven´t attended to no show till now! But I guess it is time to do so...
As sculpting with the hairdo: You can only learn by trial and error or when someone is in handy who can tell a bit about some tricks. It is sad, but I do not have any pics of my first sculpts. They were too ridiculous, but I had no books or internet these days and had to learn it myself.
