This is the second project on my bench at the moment. Borrowed from the Hasegawa site This is intended to be a cut away project and it is intended for attempted submission to a magazine. More on this build to follow. I hope you enjoy the ride. Joe

Does Joe know that Revell boxes a 1/32 see through Mustang? Joe does. Joe does it his way though. His way is even better.
Looks like we are in for another ride. I'm buckled up and ready to go. Start cuttin'!

Very kind. Thank you.
Jimmy yes I know about that one. Seen some very very nice builds of it. But you are right. I want to do it my way. I never really have been a follower. Not a leader but then again I never really worried if anyone chose the path I took either.

Hehe...that kit is...well..um...less than impressive. You'll do a much better job whipping this one up on your own.

The general impression I am getting is this is a bit of a dog of a kit. Most comments are of that nature anyway. I test fit the fuse and wings tonight and they look to be ok. I hope to get a proper start over the weekend.

First cuts. Over the last day or so it has been Dremmel and Exacto time. The most frightening moment of a build like this is that first cut. After that there is no turning back. And the cuts. I am going where the feeling takes me at this point. I think the wing will be first up. Going to tackle it a bit different. Till next time..... All comments, critiques, and criticism are encouraged. Wing work has started. Over the last couple of weeks I have spent some time getting the wing and its components ready to go. I have also worked on the fuel cell for the wing. Started the stringers and the gun bay/ammo bin. All comments, critiques, and criticism are encouraged. Joe

Well folks time to bore you with another brief status update. Color on the wing framework. Color on the fuel tank. Work on the gun bay and start up on the .5 cals in the wing. I went with Yellow Zinc Chromate I know not much. Kind of boring. I have stalled trying to figure out the color to use. I went with my best guess and what was logical. All comments, critiques, and comments are encouraged. Joe

Saw the comment on FB about you getting bogged down in a color debate. I'm not sure where the argument/discussion took place. I'm not much for over the top rivet counting either...but I believe Dana Bell is the authority on color of US birds and indeed his conclusion is Yellow Zinc Chromate on these parts, so I think you're on the right track.
Cracking work on the wing.

A brief update. Been kind of out of the loop for a few weeks. Fires in the area have thrown a great deal of smoke up and that has caused me some issues. If you have not done so lately when you see one of the folks who risk injury or worse to fight fires, thank them. They do not get the praise that they truly deserve. Took me three weeks to get these to this point. To be honest I am not completely happy with the way they look. The flaps. Next up is to try to detail the gun bay a bit and then maybe paint. With rain finally and some cooler days and nights hopefully I can get back to feeling decent and get back to the bench more often. All comments, critiques, and criticism are encouraged. Joe

Joe, I was wondering about the updates. I'm sorry the fires have been causing you some issues. Hopefully it's nothing that won't pass and you and your family aren't in any danger.
I don't see anything not to be happy with. They look dang good to me. I think we are just usually our own worst critics.

My sister lives in southern Idaho and they've been getting a lot of the smoke/haze drifting over which causes problems with her asthma. Hope things improve for you as well Joe! I'm with Jimmy, those flaps look pretty sharp from here.
