Oy, lovely work. I only have one point: the surround for the shell ejection port in the turret is part of the turret casting, same as a Sherman. Dragon and Tamiya both give you add-on parts that make it kind of hard to blend them into the turret.

Have any of you ever watch The World's Greatest Tank Battles on the History Channel? The one on Korea deals a lot with the M26. I knew Bob Dillon very well, and he was the old guy they interviewed on the show. He passed away a couple weeks ago, and he was an encyclopedia on Korean armored war fare. It was his tank platoon that broke the siege of the Pusan Pocket, and it was his tank that lead they way.
What this post is about, is facts he told me about M26 tanks in Korea, as well as the others. Many M26 tanks in Korea were T26's. Some used the older WWII tracks and some used the later style. There's even one photo showing an M26 with both style tracks on it (Bob said he bet that was a wild ride). Reason for the older M26 tanks in Korea was the inability of the Shermans to take on a T34-85. Plus he called the M24's cannon fodder. Said there was no serious advantage with the M46, but it was a good tank. So basically one really wants to see a picture of the tank is modeling as there were so many variations. gary

They came in all kinds of varations. Thanks for the history lesson. Terry

Terry Bob was sharp as a tack right up to his end, and he would quote his tank's serial number as if he was on the tank that morning! His story about the head on collision with the T34-85 tank will scare you to death! gary

Worked on wheels and lower hull last night. I applied three different washes to get to this point. Comments welcome and advise. Terry

I have been slowly putting the tracks together. The kit has individual links and is pretty tedious to do. So here is half.

mrt51: Thanks for the really nice progression of pictures with a nice mix of zoom-ins! I'm not knowledgeable on historical accuracy but your modeling techniques are superb! What did you use/do to get that turret texturing? It's subtle but effective. Same question on the weld beads...What material is that? It looks silver!? I suspect the welds are bit over-scaled (which I like...the hard work doesn't get lost later-on) they look just right with the washes! Nice post-shading. Was that dry-brushed oils for the worn grab points on the turret? They looked really yellow at first but they settled in nicely. Comment: Your dry-brush work is great but almost too perfect/ monotone, IMO. It accentuates the edges but doesn't depict much wear/ color variation. I was expecting to see that same yellow-work that you did on the turret on a bunch of places on the rest of the tank. Are you planning to add a bit more paint wear...down to exposed metal in some places?
