mrt51: Thanks for the really nice progression of pictures with a nice mix of zoom-ins! I'm not knowledgeable on historical accuracy but your modeling techniques are superb! What did you use/do to get that turret texturing? It's subtle but effective. Same question on the weld beads...What material is that? It looks silver!? I suspect the welds are bit over-scaled (which I like...the hard work doesn't get lost later-on) they look just right with the washes! Nice post-shading. Was that dry-brushed oils for the worn grab points on the turret? They looked really yellow at first but they settled in nicely. Comment: Your dry-brush work is great but almost too perfect/ monotone, IMO. It accentuates the edges but doesn't depict much wear/ color variation. I was expecting to see that same yellow-work that you did on the turret on a bunch of places on the rest of the tank. Are you planning to add a bit more paint wear...down to exposed metal in some places? First let me say thank you! Turret texturing: This was done with Tamiya liquid cemment. Welds: These are made using solder. Dry brushing: This is done at this stage not for a "worn" effect, but rather to suggest different natural light refraction on the surface of the tank. The essence of the modulation techniqe is to show the different shades produced by natural light. Dry brushing also brings out details that would be lost otherwise. Naturally more work is to be done. At the moment I'm stuck on tracks. I build for competition and I have developed my painting style with that in mind. With any competition there is a stategy. Mine is that I want the viewer to notice my work from a distance of 4 to 5 feet and be drawn to look closer and then be able see the finer details. Terry

one thing I should have told you, and just plain forgot about it was the barrel travel lock at the rear. In Korea there was somekind of an issue with the original (just don't remember what it was), and they moved it to the right side of the rear. Whether this was a field mod or an ordinance modification; I just don't remember. Still Bob said the majority had this done before they were ever placed in a unit. Now whether the old one was retained and a new one added; I don't know (let alone why). Add to this a vast vary of modifications that were implemented at the factory, and you now have the M46 tank. gary
