Hey gang, You probably know I have been having mojo issues for a while but it seems to be back. Lost interest on the bust and B-24 projects but I felt an itch to build something with tracks. Spent three nights in a row working on this little feisty panzer... To my surprise, not much "blue" marked for this one. Less extras... good! Using few aftermarkets... I am still undecided on the tracks. Should I go for Fruils or deal with Magic Tracks? $$$$$ I know its for Ausf C but who cares... You know my rule... it has to have a figure or two! From Tahk... Going for the masked head... perfect for DAK! Did I ever tell you I hate dealing with wheels? Too much stuff just for the lower hull... typical Dragon kit! Hope it will help me keep my mojo going this time!

HA! I picked up the same kit second hand last week. It include the TMD suspension correction bits. I'm kinda wanting to start but have so many others to finish first. I'll probably build an Ost Front finish.
How complete is that Voyager set? Does it include the fenders too?
Are you going to build out the interior?

Voyager set I bought doesn't include fenders... mostly storage boxes, clasps, smoke discharger, etc. You should see the instructions for the smoke discharger... too complicated so I skipped it. I will post a picture if you want. No interior... it won't be visible when it is done so I am going to skip that part too. I want a quick build to keep my mojo going if you know what I mean.

HOLY CRAPLAKISTAN! HE'S BACK! Seems we are getting our mojo back at about the same time. The mojo transplant did work in Columbus. It just took us both a month and a half to kick in. Your body needed to accept the transplant and mine needed to recover from the shock. Welcome home mon frere.

Nice to see you back building again Andy and great choice! Looking forward to seeing what you do with it. If you do get AM tracks, be careful...the Dragon sprockets on this one don't have an accurate teeth count/pitch on them so you could run into some issues depending. Look into it first before you buy!

Couldn't do just a simple OOB build to try to get the mojo back, eh? Chuck some aftermarket at it! I'm sad that the B-24 has been shelved.

No, they don't! Pz. II drive sprockets have 26 teeth, whereas the Panzer Art ones only have 25. Tamiya kit 35292 has sprocket wheels with 26 teeth.

Oh boy, believe me it is great having you my friends tagging along. I feel so motivated... worked on the panzer for two hours last night I was surprised because I still had the energy to build after two hours of tennis match in 85 temp with mild humidity. LOL Tobias- Happy to have you aboard! Dierk- You betcha! Will post an update over the weekend. My local model club is meeting tonight... good timing! Wes- I think you will like it... just be prepared to deal with one or two million tiny pieces! LOL Anthony- LOL You know me... aftermarket stuff and I are pretty close! Marc- You know how slow i am... everything takes forever at my end. So two months sounds reasonable to me! Again it was really great meeting you FINALLY after so many years! Bill- Oh boy!!! I am so glad you brought this up. Looks like I will have to give the magic track a shot. I am not ready to spend $50 or even more this time. Remember I am trying to save $$$ for the Band of Brother tour in Europe next summer. If things go bad, then I will have to look at other options. Tobi- Always happy to have you along! Thanks for the head up about the sprocket teeth... Krueger- Thanks for the great link... appreciate it!!! Dupes- LOL! You know how much I love aftermarkets... somebody has to keep those companies stay afloating!!! My goal is to finish the B-24 in time for the show in March if possible. Deano- No kidding!!! But you have gone Russiaky sometimes... LOL Thanks mate! Guy- Hardcore... sounds right! Lucky I already had those aftermarket stuff before the wife slammed me the restraining order not to buy more as part of an agreement to let me visit you next summer. Todd- Thanks boss! You know I have been itchin' to build another DAK for a while so here am I!!! Hopefully one day we will finally do a DAK or North Africa campaign GB that we have been talking for YEARS! LOL

I plan to use it as much as I can EXCEPT for the smoke discharger. I thought it was ridiculous... nearly one whole page dedicated just for the little smoke discharger and you really can not see what is in it?!?!? Smoke discharger... over engineered... too complicated... will they be seen? Nah, I opted for mix of kit supplied parts and PE parts. Hope this helps... everything else looks pretty good even tho.

Good to see you working again, Andy. You're either going to kick start the hell out of your mojo, or blow it right out the window with that voyager set! Now, if only I could break out of this slump I've found myself in......

Andy, could you post pictures of the TMD suspension set, please?
I have quite a collection of AM stuff from them, but I've never heard of this set!
THX
Regarding the teeth, honestly, who will count them once the wheels are on the model? When I was on the prowl for AM replacements myself, I soon decided to stick to the kit sprockets...

years back I bought the Tamiya kit, and then later bought the DML version. Night and day difference. I could see it instantly! I never thought about doing an African track, as I was into this Ost Front thing that never went very far.
I'll bee watching this build. gary

THX Regarding the teeth, honestly, who will count them once the wheels are on the model? When I was on the prowl for AM replacements myself, I soon decided to stick to the kit sprockets... It only matters if you get AM tracks...ironically, there are AM tracks out there that are designed to work with the wrong numbered teeth while others are accurate; therefore, you need the right sprocket teeth/pitch count to fit properly. It may not seem like a huge difference, but when I did Dragon's Bison II (which DID have the correct teeth and pitch) the AM tracks (Modelkasten) didn't fit properly and I had to shave down a couple of teeth for it to work out. It's funny in a way because Modelkasten put out a set of sprockets that are inaccurate...but do fit their tracks! I don't think TMD did a suspension set so far as I know. Tank Workshop did do one. I have that set, TWS-2012, because I've got the same kit sitting in the stash as Andy.

Jeremy- LOL I was lucky I managed to buy all of the aftermarkets before my wife disabled my PayPal and cut my credit cards. Its just temporary until after the tour... can't believe we are really going to hang out for two weeks in Europe next summer! Bob- Thanks buddy! You have to meet my buddy from local model club. We met for lunch that day then BAM my mojo came back that night I started the build. LOL So far I like Voyager PE sets... sometimes they can be fragile but not too bad! Looks like I will use most of it except for the smoke discharger... Tobi- After serious pondering I will proceed with the Magic Tracks... can't justify spending $50-$80 on aftermarket tracks and sprockets, etc right now as I am saving $$$ for the big trip. But I hope we get to meet while I am in Germany for about five days! LOL Gary- No kidding! I personally prefer Dragon over Tamiya for better details. Building is probably my favorite part so it takes like only 2 or 3 days to do a Tamiya kit while it is usually much longer when you build a Dragon kit. Happy to have you aboard buddy! Bill- Too funny about Modelkasten's inaccurate sprockets but it worked anyway in our favor! Oh boy, I happen to have Bison kit and I am tempted to raid its parts. Nah, I will wait and see how it goes with the MagicTracks. Just say prayers for me in middle of the desert at high noon, ok buddy?

Pleased to report that mojo is still with me... dealt with PE for last 2-3 nights. One thing at a time... Comparison of kit supplied and PE added on fire extinguishers: That one nearly made me puke... kit supplied wood block: Result: Tools... Did I ever tell you how much I like photo etch? Except for tool clasps of course! More to come... thanks for looking my friends!
