have to keep checking this is 1/72nd !!!! Trust me, they are by far not all like that, 1/72 is still very much the ginger headed, buck tooth cousin of 1/35 when it comes to quality of kit.... Usual rules apply though.... The more you pay, the better they are generally And Tri colour to answer your last question ATB Sean

Flyhawk kits are pretty amazing aren't they? Finished an Early model not too long ago...just like this, perfect fit to everything! Tough to tell it's braille unless you have something to compare it again! Love your thought on camo and it looks like you're off to a great start squirting some color!! Keep this going!!

I believe those are the water-based oils from W&N, correct? I have used some water-based oils in a limited basis and found they do work similar to regular solvent based oils in application and working. But they are acrylics and by their nature will dry faster. There are specific mediums you can use to thin them to make them smoother, retard drying and be able to create washes. Once they have been applied, you can work the appearance with a soft brush just like the oils. However, they will dry and be less responsive to to certain mediums such as water.
Using water can be done, but you may find better mixing of the pigments with a liquid matte medium...there is satin and gloss available to is so desired. Another medium would be gum arabic which works similar to spirits used with traditional oils.
Acrylic airbrush thinner might work for mixing as well.
Best to set up a test piece and try them out first.

I don't use the Gouache, but as I am pure water based in all my modelling I do use W&N Cotman watercolour in tubes.
If you refer back to my Jagdtiger all the weathering and rust streaks are all done using watercolours.
Its just a matter of finding the right techniques, for the dirt streaks I water the paint down 1/3 paint 2/3 water and paint on then using a clean wet brush streak and fade out, always making sure to clean the brush regularly.
The rust I put a dot of pure paint where I want the stain to start then with a clean wet brush fade the dot straight down, working from the outside in.
They do dry quite quick and the advantage is you can re activate them with water if your not happy... Obviously the longer you leave them the harder that becomes.
Another thing is you can create different effects by applying them to different surfaces, on gloss using black and burnt umber and thinned right out you get nice oil stains etc
If applied to a matt surface they don't spread as much so are good for grease etc
I then seal it all over with W&N Galleria Matt coat to finish.

I should add for camo colours that are brush applied I normally use either Revell or Games Workshop colours as thats all my local shop supplies other than Tamiya and we all know what Tamiya paint is like to brush on!

I believe the standard issue response to something like this goes along the lines of "bugger that!!"
I always hand paint my tyres, then that way I know I'm at one with the model, especially German tanks with their many, many wheels,.... if you manage that lot, and not at least threaten to smash the bejeezus out of it, you are approaching being a zen master at this art form we call model making.
