Hello there guys, after a bust ( + two on the hobby bench) and a small 1:72 scale project it's time to pick a big kit from the stash. Dragon Kit n° 6244. I've purchased a couple of goodies for it too, Friul tracks and Atak Zimmerit. For the rest I will try to build it mostly OOTB... Best regards ! AG.

You're going to need an even bigger set of giant hands for this one! Pulling up a chair.

Dierk, believe it or not, after twelve years of modeling it was time to finally build my first Panther tank, I hope I won't ruin it. You like building Beutepanzers ? I'll check that out in a moment. Bill, I had to go for the Large hand instead of a Medium size, now I'm in trouble ! Andy, please be welcome bro !

Not much of an update full of action but it's something. Some parts were shaved/sanded thinner, like the support for the exhaust pipes and the one for the jack. The Atak zim part was also easily but carefully trimmed to achieve a good fit. Best regards ! AG.

A pic I have to put in this topic, good as a reference for Zimmerit I think... I started making Zimmerit on the stowage boxes, tomorrow they will be finished. Best regards ! AG.

Can't thank you enough for starting this thread! I get to watch you deal with the same Zimmerit I'll be using - virgin territory for me - and you get to find all the mistakes in the Dragon instructions for me too!

Dierk, the Atak Zimmerit is very easy to cut but also very breakable, however when you're patient enough it won't be difficult to apply it onto the model parts... This is my first Zimmerit adventure too fella, the Dragon instructions didn't show flaws until now. Maybe one thing I'm not sure of, and that's the machine gun barrel in the frontal armor plate, if I'm not mistaking it was a MG42 that was placed. The barrel looks to tiny, not heavy enough imho, but maybe I'm wrong on this ? I'm covering the rest of the stowage boxes with Milliput Extra Fine to create Zimmerit. Best regards ! AG.

I've forgotten most of what I used to know about German armour in general and Panthers in particular, but I seem to recall they were fitted with MG34 - so the skinny barrel is spot on. RB do a nice, but pricey, metal barrel. 'the Dragon instructions didn't show flaws until now' Famous last words...hope they don't come back to haunt you

Coming along nicely AG! Good job on that box zim. Atak is good stuff, it's what I prefer for my own zim-needing projects.

OMG, Guy is doing a late A Panther as well...and of the Panzer Lehr as well... Now I really need to speed up Great work chap, and the zimm looks cool! dierk is right btw, the mg's fitted in the ball mount were of the MG34 kind...the RB ones aren't that pricy I think...especially if you compare them to Aber ones. ^^ Cheers

I think the rear's done now, I just have to glue on the jack but that's for later of course. I hope you like the Zimmerit, I've tried to make it look a bit battered as seen on war pics. Up to the next part fellas. Best regards ! AG.

Zimmerit looks great! Can you remember what the order number was? I'm after 35019 which appears to have a different pattern from yours. Want to ensure I'm not getting the wrong one.
