Hello everybody. Here's another figure I picked up at MMSI that I forgot to picture with my haul. It's a flat from Artist's preservation group. The figure is of an Irish Brigade private at Fredericksburg. Here he is cleaned: And here he base coated. I have never painted a flat before, so this might get interesting. Thanks for looking in.

Thanks Leon, Like I said, this is uncharted water for me. From what I have heard, I basically need to go to more extremes in shadows and highlights.

Great looking piece Bruce! Great start to the skin tones too! Think Layers...just like weathering! Translucent applications of shadows and highlighting ...and have fun! Go to YouTube and search Last Cavalry. Dave Youngquist has a closet full of videos, many on face and skin painting. Worth a look to start with!!

Thanks T. I have been studying Dave's videos at length. We had a nice chat at MMSI too. I am going to try his methodas, and we'll see where this one goes.

Awesome! Dave is good people! We had the chance to hang out a few times at some shows! I borrowed some of his demo pieces for the Vallejo table....he is a master of the brush! Have fun!!

Hello everybody. I finally got the guts up enough to try acrylic flesh tones. I like where it's going. Yes, I know I need to do some cleanup on a few areas, but at least (I think) he's heading in the right direction. I hope to have more soon. Thanks for looking in

Hello everybody. I'm making a little more progress on this one. I am starting to get used to acrylics. I still need to tone down a little around his mouth, but he's coming along. I'm trying to figure out the blue for his greatcoat, but it shouldn't be too bad. Thanks for looking in.

Thank you Leon. As Todd suggested, I'm watching Dave's videos. This is pretty much his method of painting (and I think it might be my new method of painting). Hopefully, I'll have more soon.

Hello again, I got some more paint on this afternoon. I kinda like it. I have a bit of detail work to do still, but he's coming along. I hope to have more in the next few days. Thanks for looking in.

Hello again everybody, I pretty much got this guy done. I promise he looks better in person. He is mounted in a case too, and the overall effect is pretty good (I think). Thanks for looking in.

Taking something 2-D and making it look 3-D isn't easy. You did a fine job I'd say. Nice work Bruce.
