Finally got a little time in today to paint. Sorry for the cell photos, but got to get back to work I'm swamped because of the bloody holidays.  Tried colour modulation, though it doesn't show up the best in this photo. It's an interesting technique. I thought I would hate it, but I might keep experimenting with it in the future. I'll try to wrap up the figure I'm painting in the next day or so and put that up. Thanks for looking. Jeff |

Looking good Jeff! I used to feel the same about CM, but have been converted. Seen plenty of arguments about whether or not it's realistic - actually, I don't care. It's a great way of adding interest to a monochrome paintjob.

Progress slowly continues.  I love British shermans because they are a little more colourful then their U.S cousins, but the French have the Brits beat. The 2nd DB markings were toned down dramatically after September 44, because they were just a little too eye catching. But they served a purpose for political reasons and for attracting new recruits from liberated towns and villages. The U.S.A registration numbers seem out of place but are on the original vehicle. This particular tank didn't come through the lend lease route, but directly from a U.S division. Patton had a lot of time for Leclerc and told him essentially "you need anything come talk to me.". First time with Bison decals. Not too bad. Started work on a figure too.  Miniart U.S figure and a hornet head. Sorry for the washed out photo. The 2nd DB crews wore berets manufactured in France and were a sky blue colour. I hope that's close enough because I'm not going to lose any sleep on it. Still kicking on this one.
I've fought silvering that appeared out of nowhere and a clear coat reacting badly to enamel weathering. I was able to correct those problems and now I have a model that looks almost identical to the one above photographed 10 days ago.
Hopefully things will get heading in the right direction soon.

A little Champagne on New Years Eve. Finished painting most of the details (missed the headlights) and started some weathering on the chassis.  Did a little more chipping and made the wood bits a little more vivid then I'd usually do. I'm hoping that when more dust gets flying the details will all tie together nicely instead of disappear like my usual M.O. Well Happy New Year to all, hopefully the Cotton Bowl shakes out the way I'd like. Cheers Jeff |

Really nice result, Jeff! I know how you feel about the next stage: Managed to obliterate hours of work in the blink of an eye by over-doing the dusting more often than I like to admit.

Considering the name of the tank, it's a perfect update for New Years! Looking good Jeff. Sometimes you have to over do stuff before the weathering so it will look right after. |

Well right of the bat the Cotton Bowl did not shake out as I hoped. In case anyone could here me yelling from here I'd like to apologize for the things I said about Nick Saban's mother and the fine people of the state of Alabama. 1st round of weathering done. Fixed up a few things I noticed from these pics. Like a few oil spots that weren't blended enough and neglecting the barrel entirely the first time around.    Going to let it dry a couple days before I hit it with anymore weathering. I've already mucked this up once by being impatient. In the mean time I will probably work on stowage, a base or a new figure as I'm not crazy about the one I'm working on now. Thanks for looking. Jeff |

Still plugging away. So much work and new kid stress on top of that. A little modelling was a good break. A vacation south would be better, but with the state of the CDN dollar I could probably afford balmy Indianapolis right now  .  Lot more to go on the base, but I find doing it before the heavier tank weathering helps with that step. Thanks for looking. Jeff |

Thanks for the encouragement guys. @andy - I thanks for the invite LOL, I got Indianapolis on the brain or more specifically St. Elmo's Steakhouse. I had a client who went down to Indy for the Big10 title game and I did my best not to punch him out of jealousy. But he spent about 20 minutes talking to me last week about this steakhouse he hit which sounded amazing. Got the base wrapped up.  I might add something small to the back left corner to fill what feels like dead space. But considering how the Sherman fills up the base I might just let it stand as it is.  Next up is finishing up the stowage and adding a little dust to the Sherman. Also working on a new figure because I wasn't happy with the last one. He just had a giant smile on his face for no reason. In keeping with the french theme my last figure might get the guillotine and have his head used at a later date.  Another miniart figure with hornet head. This guy had a terrible pencil neck which I had to cut off and drilled out. Remade the collar on the tankers jacket with green stuff and I hope it looks ok under paint. Thanks for looking and keeping me motivated. Jeff |
