Which begs the question why do you only do Russian stuff? Yep, 'tis me first boat since getting back into the hobby. Well, I like the rugged functionality of soviet designs. Every man and his dog builds German and Western Allied stuff (no offence to those who do) good reason for me not to - if Japanese armour was more plentyful, and, well - cooler, I could've ended up doing that. Most of all though: I do most of my bargain hunting on fleabay, and generally you have less competition bidding on soviet stuff. The boat for instance retails for over 60€ in the few shops that stock it, I got it for just over 20. I may be of the Krauty persuasion, but me wallet's from Yorkshire

Just got this: It was free - all I've got to do is build it and do a writeup for a German site. First impressions? Masterclub's resin conversion is vastly superior. Coming soon to our favourite forum: a comparison build of the two kits.

Hi all Sorry me (yet again) - trying to do my best to both satisfy my mojo and support the post-Brexit UK economy. I'm laying the blame for these purchases squarely at Sean's door!! He mentioned that Milicast did some good stuff, so I had a look and my mojo proceeded to run wild and trampled all over my weak will...... So at work this morning the following arrived: - 50cm Fine Scale Brass Chain - US Machine Guns & AFV Mounts - British AFV Stowage set 2 - 30 x British Pattern 5 gallon "Jerrycans" (Late War Fuel Cans) - British Stowage set 1 - British AFV Crew "Bail-Out" packs If you carefully on the right hand of the front row of the 4th pic you can even a field cooker! And in a throwback to the days of good old fashioned personal service, before the likes of massive online shops beginning with 'A' arrived on the scene, a handwritten note from the owner!!! As you'll see I went a bit mad but I reckon with my build rate it should last a few years..... Enjoy and thanks for stopping by (yet again). Andrew ------------------------------------------------

Nice haul there Andrew. Is that all 72nd scale. Bish, thanks for stopping by. Yes it's all 1/72. I use this sort of stuff to add life to the vehicles my son and I use for the small scale battles we have. Him and his sister also get involved in the simpler parts of the build and painting processes. Nice pile of goodies there Andrew! Time to hit the bench and start building. Don't worry leon, the modelling stuff came out of the storage crate it's been in since the move last weekend. I've also just put my in my first ever styrene order tonight, so once that arrives there will be no stopping me!!! Thanks as always for stopping by. Andrew

The one you saw getting built was probably either TRM's, or Serzh's - both using the masterclub conversion. And ages ago Uncle Tony did one using the Aires conversion.

I remembered as soon as I saw the thread title. Not long after I saw that, I came across the Dragon kit.

Hi all Yet more arrivals at my residence. I've decided to start using metals barrels - although the superior look is one reason, the main one is that plastic snaps and unfortunately in the heat of our battles this has happened..... ....and it wasn't even my sons fault but mine..... RB Models do a great range of a lot of different barrels and I ended up ordering them direct from Poland, as it was cheaper even allowing for postage, especially when I ordered some extras..... .....they were so cheap it was hard to say no and they will (hopefully) last me a long time. I have to say RB Models service was brilliant - ordered late on Tuesday 6th, shipped first thing the next day, arrived at our door on Monday morning - 6 days. Here's a summary of the latest purchases (pics below): - 3x 7.5cm KwK40 L48 for my Pz IV Ausf H - 2x US 37mm M6 gun for some of my M5 Stuarts - 1x 6 pdr Mk V British Tank Gun for one of my Churchills - 1m each of 'small' and 'large' brass chains - 4 thickness of steel cable in 5m lengths Thanks as always for stopping by. Hi all Sorry but me again. Today's post brought yet more arrivals. First some wheels to allow to me make use of the spare carriages and guns that came with my PSC 25 pdr kit. But more importantly for me....my first ever styrene - please try not to laugh! None of the local model shops sell any and I didn't want to buy lots of one particular type and spend a small fortune gathering the various pieces I needed. But then I struck lucky and found a small onlne site that sells it in packets of 5 rather than 10 and at 15-20p per strip/rod/bar rather than the usual 40+p - end result I could afford to by 20 different packs of various shapes and sizes for the same as the four at the usual quantity and price. There's a second order of some interesting looking sheets on the way too. Thanks againd for stopping by! Andrew ----------------------------------------------------------

Been planning on getting this kit ever since i built the HPH 1/18th DB 605. This is the other German engine kit HPH does, the BMW 003 as used in the He 162. Finally added it to the sash this week and i will be building this soon as part of a 3 kit build, along with 2 He 162 kits.

Nice haul there Andrew! Those metal barrels look good. Leon Thanks as always for taking the time to stop by. I must admit although the main reason for getting them was for practical reasons, I am very pleased with how they look. Nice haul you have there Andrew. I do like RB barrels, though I have only use their 35th ones. Bish I'd heard good things about them on several forums but had never seen them in the 'flesh' but I'm glad I took the plunge. The engine project looks an interesting idea, I'll make sure I keep my eyes peeled out for it. Thanks for stopping by. Andrew

They are really nice, for me its usually between RB and Aber barrels. I am not sure about 72nd, but in 35th, armoscale uses RB barrels and then adds something, like a resin mantlet.
I really enjoyed the 109 engine. Its just a shame they only make 3, the other is a Packard merlin. They are nice if you don't mine working in resin and great customer service as well.

Hi all You'll no doubt be pleased to hear that this is probably the last set of acquistions/arrivals this side of Christmas (apologies for dominating this thread recently). First up are some styrene sheets to help with making some buildings - stone and brick walls, as well as some troof tiles. As you'll see some of the 'stones' are bit on the large side but should look okay once painted. The rest of the arrivals are a delayed birthday present, due to the publication date. The rules my son and I use for our small battles are over 40 years old and not very 'playable', so I was looking for an alternative. I came across the Battlegroup series, which the Plastic Soldier Company sell on behalf of the publishers. It's got good reviews and I even had the designer himself come back to me in response to some questions I asked PSC. I've only just got it so haven't had to try the rules out - the real test of course - but first impressions are very good The core rulebook is hardback (A4ish in size), 140 pages long, on excellent quality paper, the text is nicely spaced and broken up in sensible sections. There are also plenty of line illustrations, WW2 photos and model dios to illustrate points or draw modelling inspiration from - in fact, print quality wise it's up there with the best reference books I've got. I also bought the British and late WW2 German data cards to go with the game - again excellent quality. The German cards cover 120 vehicles (including some obscure French conversions) and aircraft, whislt the British set covers nearly 80. It does come with some data cards but they're Canadian and German and it also comes with some skirmishes and battles to play. There are also further supplements for different periods and theratres in the war, that each come with their own set of specialist rules and data cards. As a thank you for pre-ordering PSC threw in a free Sdkfz 250 half track kit, whcih comes with four different versions to choose from - needless to say this had absolutely nothing to do with my decision to go through with the purhase. Thanks in advance for stopping by. Andrew ----------------------------------

Jeez, I turn my back for a couple of minutes and Andrew has emptied out several modelling shops But buying from Poland? Tsk, not the bahaviour of someone who's fellow countrymen have just voted for splendid isolation But yours truly hasn't just been hoarding his dosh either and has spread it about a bit: Can't remember the name of the manufacturer of this one - Japanese if memory serves: Some Russian brass to go with the Zvezda 1/48 PE-2 that's currently winging its way from Mother Russia to the Fatherland: And finally managed to score one of these that didn't cost silly money: Tha, tha, tha that's all folks.

Hi Dierk Some interesting purchases there! As for Polish buys, I might have to stock up before the trade barriers go up - which of course is NOT and excuse to buy lots of barrels that then have to have kits bought to go with them!! The best though thing about me emptying out several model shops is that all of the kits (and the rules) were birthday presents in one way or another, so I didn't even have to use my money in the process!! Yours Andrew

Its a real big chunk of plastic. Zvezda has one too, but I decided for this one. It features light & sound module. Well... the sound is really emabarassing to be honest, lighting on the other hand is great for someone who is lazy as me. So I can concentrate on the light improvements (feeding the rudder gaps, slight detailing etc.). Price is okay as well (25 € ), so theres nothing to complain about - should be fun later.

Firstly, Lucas, Chaos - some nice looking purchases there!! Now.....oK so I lied - there have been some more arrivals.....in the form of yet more styrene. The first batch was from the my first order. They were out of stock on some of my order so sent it on when it came in. Then I went a bit mad.....the original company didn't do some of the finer pieces I 'needed' so I 'had' to order a few pieces and some how some things managed to fall into the basket. The sheet below is approx. 300 x 660mm and I will use it primarily for making some buildings. Thanks as always for stopping by! Andrew --------------------------------------------

Looks like somebody is having a white x-mas They're forecasting temperatures in the mid teens for us tomorrow, so it's the closest we're going to get!!! Seasonably warm here too. Parcel from a Russian friend arrived just in time for crimbo! Apart from some bars of chocolate there's this: And another wingy - Zvezda's pretty marvellous PE-2! Props are a bit meh, or so I've been told. So, some resin replacements from Komplekt Zip are on order, as are wheels from elf and dash boards from Yahu. Already got PE from another Russian company called Metallic Details: And there you have it.
