Before i started building 1/35 military vehicles i was a sad Warhammer 40k collector i didnt play just loved collecting and painting so as a bit of fun im going back to my roots and having a go at scratching a Malcador Defender heavy Tank it is part of the Imperial guard Death Korps of kreig division the kit costs around £80 . This will be part of a small dio but more on that in the future Heres the progress so far im using plasticard for most of the tank and other bits from the world of warhammer tracks have been stolen from an old panther kit. pics of the actual kit im copying My efforts so far, if theres any bad comments on this build im sending the boys round!!!!!lol Dan B

Cheers for all the positive comments the scale of these wh40k tanks are based on 1/48 scale 1/35 looks a bit too large but the super heavies that Forgeworld make are around 1/35 i will try my best to deliver regular updates.

A quick update on the Malcador progress has been slow as this is my first scratchbuild and im learning from mistakes one side is near completion the basic shape of the front hull has been made. I have used some rubber tracks from an old Tamiya panther kit. next up the engine compartment. Dan B

Thanks Dicky i think people should donate there spare tracks to the Dicky and Dan scratch building fund!!! lol
Thanks Spud i think if i remember correctly that GW did base there tank designs on WW1 tank design especially with the Imperial Guard side of Warhammer i like it its easier to scratch because its all square!!!!

W40K stuff is far too expensive, IMO. But your idea of scratchbuilding one is nice, and the results so far are on your side

Hey all i have recently found a number of newly designed templates on a online 40k forum on building a Malcador defender so after taking mine from the shelf i could see many faults in scale and build quality so i have started the MK2 at this stage the basic hull shape and fighting compartment has been made i have made a start on the main gun too but that will be in the next update. basic hull shape: engine compartment: turret: Dan B
