Hi guys- I've been lurking for awhile, and I see some faces that I used to see on another forum (hey Deafpanzer and Tojo72...). I let it slip to Marc (Dupes) that I'd been lurking, and he....ah.....is 'coerced' too strong of a word? Strongly suggested?....that I join MSC, if only to vote for MoM. He also included that he's a moderator, so maybe that means I have an 'in'.....I dunno.
Anyway, I'm mainly a 1/72 aircraft/ 1/35 armor guy. Been about 50/50 for 20 years, but I was diehard into the aircraft growing up. My stash contains a smattering of other stuff I find cool: NHRA, Tamiya 1/20 Formula 1, space (Apollo, Mercury), Star Wars, a few 1/72 armor, a few ships (including the 1998 release of the 1/350 Minicraft/Academy Titanic, complete with all the Tom's Modelworks and Gold Medal Models AM....it's a bucket list build), and a few AMT 1/25 big rigs.
I'm a glacially slow builder.....yes, almost literally. I have finished a few, though:
Dragon 1/35 M2 halftrack- excellent kit; sorry about the background:
Mirror Models 1/35 Diamond T 969 open cab wrecker- 3rd place at the 2015 IPMS Nationals:
The Testors repop of the 1960 1/48 Hawk GeeBee R1/R2. Been working on this since 2011, and I put in a scratchbuilt cockpit and interior detail:
So that's kinda it. Thanks for taking the time to look guys!
Dave

Welcome aboard Dave! Guessing you know from your "lurking", we have the best bunch of modelers around...friendly and knowledgeable. Two out of three aint bad...at least you know Anthony too, we won't hold the other two against you! Fine looking display of models to kick things off! Sit back and relax and enjoy!

You're right Todd, we ARE the best bunch of modellers around, and pretty damn knowledgeable ..... judging from that mirror model kit, we still are! LOL welcome to the club!

Hello S.T.,
I particularly like the bulkhead and stringer detail inside the cockpit. Maybe posting here could motivate you to finish it.
Good work with the award from 2015. It was a good show but the display room was too dark.....It's been 8 months and I'm still cheezed-off by that.

Thanks for the welcome and the kind words guys!
fhvn4d- yeah that Mirror wrecker kit was something! Very detailed, really captures the look, but challenging...
John- I've been trying to sort how to get the tiny thin black line between the red and white on the paint scheme of the GeeBee. Columbus- it was only my 2nd Nats so I had a great time, but I agree- lighting can be hit or miss.

Glad you decided to come out of the shadows even if Dupes had to use extraordinary measures in the process. I hope you at least got a consolation prize out of his stash in the bargain! Welcome to the MSC!

Thanks Bill, Anthony, and dierk! I'll see what I can get out of Marc's stash in exchange for increasing the membership number, but this seems like a pretty hospitable group of guys so we'll see

Dave Dave Welcome aboard from the UK!! As someone who only joined the site towards the end of last year I can indeed confirm that the guys here are pretty hospitable - although you just need to be mindful of Dierk and his 'issues' but I guess you might have got a hint of that from his post!! I'm loving the job you've done on the kits above and as for the scratchwork cockpit......outstanding!!! Have you got anything else you can show us? Welcome again!! Andrew PS congrats on the prize!

Thanks much Andrew and Bob! Ahh....dierk- check
Anything else to show....ah, well I do have this, the 1995 Revell re-release of their 1/48 1953 White tractor and gas tanker. The tractor cab's an exercise in putty or gap-filling CA, take your pick. Paint is from a Testors rattlecan.....I got impatient and wound up with orange peel but otherwise I like how I came out:
Monogram's 1/48 Huey Hog. I know it's got a bad rap with some, but I think this is a cool looking bird. From 1995, it was my first attempt at a panel line wash. Sludged it on, then wiped most off the next day. I think it came out really well for a first try. Then I realized the top windows should be tinted green and in the process of redoing that I knocked the rotors off. She sits waiting:
AMT's 1/25 Peterbilt 352 cabover, from 1996. I got it to this point and thought, gee, this needs fuel, air, and electrical lines!
Sorry about the pic quality, but there you have it- the rest of the rest, so far.

Hey Dave! Hell yeah I do remember you! So sorry for being slow... it has been a very crazy and stressful week for me (my son broke his leg and totally remodeling the bath) so I haven't been here much this week.
Welcome aboard! Love the half track!

Hey Andy! Nice to see ya again and thanks for the welcome! Wow- busy week for you, indeed. I hope things settle a bit for you.
Thanks for the nice words about the halftrack. I'm having difficulty with some of my other pics, though; they stay, they disappear, they come back- I can't figure it out. All are hosted on Onedrive, which I get to from my Microsoft Outlook account. A bit frustrating.

One of these days I might actually get to see the pictures you've posted - probably when you sack off Microsoft and find a different site to host them on Never mind Andrew's claims about me - why would a motorbike riding, soviet armour building German, who's lived longer in Britain than in the Fatherland have issues? He's the one who lives in Milton Keynes - city of roundabouts, concrete cows and bubble-blowing toad clocks! All I'm saying is pot, kettle, black

Think I might have gotten the pics issue sorted, and no I'm not an ardent Microsoft fan so if they continue to annoy me I may just go elsewhere. Hopefully you now get your wish, dierk.
As for the rib-poking, tongue-in-cheekitis jocularity that seems to rear itself here, all I can say is: modeler, know thyself- lest your fellow modeler know ye.
