WHOA! I blinked and it is already painted. God, I wish I have your speed and mojo! Loving the camo... looking forward to more! Blink again, and here it is with a dot filter and pinwash in place. An unfortunate side effect of the filter was a yellowish tint. I'm hoping I can negate some of the tint with the upcoming dust layers. ===================================================================================== Looking very nice indeed afv....very nice indeed. Just an idea....as they were hand painted and not used in action; could you consider some 'paint runs'. Depicting mistakes by the crew etc.... Funny idea..... but too late to be acted on. With the filter and wash down, I can't go back in to the basic paint pattern without some extra work that I don't have time for. I'm trying to get this done for an IPMS Regional show in 9 days. ===================================================================================== Thanks DR, though your comment makes me want to add a couple golden arches somewhere on it.

Bob Apologies for being a bit behind but now I'm glad I've caught up! It's an interesting scheme but so much easier than your Char one I bet!! Andrew

Looks great! If anybody asks: the yellowish tint is dust

No worry, Andrew, no one's reporting to the "promptness police" here. Though the scheme seems simpler, it did have it's challenges. Dierk, if it was over here I could blame it on springtime pollen season. I don't know, Bill, lose a few days here and there waiting for things to dry, or run into a snag, and the next thing you know is that you're at the show with a hairdryer trying to dry out that final coat. Thanks to the rest of you guys for the comments!

Love the camouflage there mate. And the filter and pinwash really add volume to it. I wouldn't worry about the yellowish tone to the camo. I actually quite like it. And since these schemes were used in warmer climates, that warmer yellow tint suits it rather well!
Cheers

Thanks guys.
DG - no diorama planned. The most I ever do is a simple base, and that's only if I plan on taking it to a show.

That'd be pretty easy to imagine as this pattern was very limited in use. It was specific only to tanks assigned to the island of Malta, which has a lot of stone walls and building, but not a lot of vegetation. If you do a Google search of "Malta images" you'll get a good idea of the environment. The island, bombed profusely by the Italians and Germans, was never actually invaded, so the tanks there never saw actual combat.

Took what are going to be the final pictures. After looking them over, I noted some small areas that need to be touched up or reworked. I'll take care of those tomorrow, but am not going to do anymore pictures. These will work just fine as is. First, a general walkaround.... (the first and last pictures have a bit of a red tint to them that shouldn't be there) Here are some detail shots covering most of the upgrades done to the beast ..... First, the antenna. Added the main wire lead from the base. The mount is made out of scrap PE. Added the tilt cable leading from the mount to the turret. The chin strap on the helmet is made from a thin slice if index card. Here are the smoke dischargers. They were drilled out, and the kit's blobby rear pieces were replaced by cut down Enfield rifles. I then added the actuator cables. The tarp is rolled tissue. The spotlight was drilled out with a lens added using Micro Krystal Clear. The blob that used to be the gunners periscope was hacked off and rebuilt using styrene. The sighting post next to it is scrap PE. Another index card chin strap. The tie downs used on this were leftovers from another PE set. The brackets and tie down straps for the tools were made out of styrene and index card. Need to add a little more dust to the mufflers. Also need to take care of the mold seams on the tow brackets that I hadn't noticed before.

Thanks for the comments guys. Good to hear you like my efforts. We'll see if it impresses the judges at the SC show this Saturday. Dupes, you're right about that. It's probably from the fact that most of their designs never gained the notoriety of a lot of other tanks. To be honest, if it weren't for the oddball paint scheme, I don't know if I would have tackled this one. Come on Dierk, you KNOW you want to!

I am loving everything about this and I will be surprised if you don't bring something home for this build. Good luck at the show and try not to bring home too many kits... 19 is more than plenty.

Thanks Andy. I've won with worse and lost with better, so I don't go anticipating anything. What I'd really be happy with is to win enough stuff in the raffle to resell, pay off the trip expenses, and maybe stick a little extra in my pocket. DR, thanks for the sentiments, on both counts.
