1/35 Italeri Kfz 15 Funkwagon (#6526)

So I had the opportunity to take a look at this kit as a review, and I gotta say I was a little intimidated at first. I am NOT a WWII modeller, I dont even OWN a Sherman kit (maybe one). So, saying this was a little off my comfort bubble would be correct. Having said that, I dove in anyway. The 10 steps of construction have sofar been enlightening and not all that difficult, save some very small parts and intricate places they go. I will say this to anyone who chooses to take this kit for a spin... be wary of small parts and delicate pieces of molded plastic on the cab. I broke a mount (Part 17) and a piece off the cab frame. There are a couple of small callout mistakes but the parts are easy enough to see and understand. Construction has been fairly straight forward, with some intricate multi part constructions. Look at the directions twice, dry fit once, and then glue and you will be very pleased with the end results.... I am sofar!

Nice seeing this one come together Brian! I know there was some short comings...but it's a kit....you build...paint....have fun!! Or try to anyway!! LOL!! Love the base color!! Keep it going!!

It has been about a months worth of a couple hours a week LOL... clear as mud I know.. I try not to get too wrapped up in the kits I do because if I do, I start rushing things like glue and paint.... and then it gets AFU. LOL
Having half a dozen things in various states on my desk helps too.... Oh look, a shiny object!

After a fairly long haiatus and a well deserved vacation ( to AMPS Nationals LOL), I put about an hour in on the bench with this again last night. Its coming together, and I gotta say, every time I expect to see an empty sprue on the box there are just a few more pieces left!!! Shot some more paint after filling a few gaps as I saw them, and put new skins on!

I can't help but wonder what thought-processes go on at (in this case) Italeri when it gets to putting a name on the box? Maybe something along the lines of 'hey, it's a German vehicle - how about we put an Umlaut in there somewhere?'

Well how else would you know it's authentic? At least they haven't done the Dragon act of putting the full official designation that's as long as your arm in two rows of fine print on the box.

LOL Vampirella has a LONNNG way to go before shes "worthy" Shes my first run at figure painting on a large scale kit, but shes gonna be followed up by Natashia Romanoff so I have to step up my game!( its as close to Scarlett Johannsen as I will ever get so...)
