Looking forward to the finishing touches on this one Bish, seeing you put that base together gave me a craving for some chocolate cake for some reason.

Thanks' Bill, and ye, it does look a bit like that. Can't say I have ever tried it though, but might be a nice idea for a stich up.

Great start on the base. The dust streaks on the 251 is brilliant!

Bish,
Looking at your finished pics, I gotta say it's spectacular. Just something about the generic Panzer grey, and the weathering really add to the kit. Plus as you know I love the older antenna system.
By the way that mix looks just like Betty Crocker brownie mix <g>!!

Thanks' for the comments guys. Gary, ye, someone else mentioned that, it does a bit doesn't it. Lets just hope I don't get this mix up with real chocolate cake mix. Well, I managed to get this wrapped up a couple of night ago. After the last up date, all that's was left was a flat coat and then some pigments. I use MiG pigments and really like these as they can be build up in areas where the dust would build up. I mx the pigment with water and apply wet. Once dry, its just a case of removing the excess. As soon as the pigments were done, i fitted the 251 to the base before it got to dry. As for the base, i had originally considered use the grass mat's by MiG, in this case the Stony Steppe mat. But these are rather expensive and i would have needed 2. Having had a close look at the image of these mats, i figured i could replicate it myself. So using what i already had and a few extra bits, this is what i ended up with. I may have gone a bit OTT with the stony bit of it, but i do rather like it. As well as the stones i used some flock and lots of grass tufts. And with that done, i could put the base to one side to dry fully and get the figures finished. I also got the antrenna's added and a few more bits into the vehicle. After painting and adding the insignia to the figures, they got a bit of dirtying up with some Flory wash and a light dusting with a thin Tamiya XF-55. Then they were added to the base and all was done. I did end up having to ditch one of the figures. The Dragon one from the Half track set which is designed to stand in a 251 and lean over the side does not stand in a 251 or lean over the side. Even if his feet fitted between the seats, his stance is not as shown on the box, so he is not leaning as much. He would be more suited to a 251 with a section of seats missing, so i will keep him for later. I was half expecting i would not be able to use him, and i still have 8 figures. So, here is the end result. And there you have it. I have really enjoyed doing this and have learned a lot about painting and weathering a Pz Grey vehicle. It took me 4 or 5 builds before i was happy weathering a Tri colour camo, and this has come out much better than i had expected. Thanks all for following along and for all the comments and some great advice as always.

Excellent finish on this one Bish! Love the scene and the figures you've chosen. Good call on ditching the not-so-leaning-Franz. Really like the guy slipping on his coat, adds a nice little 'moment in time' element to the whole scene.

Thanks for the comments guys. Really pleased with this one.
Bill, him and the Pz crewman doing his belt up are from the same set and I knew I had to add them as soon as I saw them.
dupes, I just had to have that extended. Those types of masts are still in use today, so it brought back some memories.
