Good Evening
Thought I'd share this build, my first Academy kit not to bad...I'm used to Tamiya and Dragon kits but this kit not to bad so far. My first impression was a little more flash than I'm used to and fit didn't feel as good as others but it's ok. This build..was intended as a fun build and something to get me away from my beloved Sherman's. First of all decided to mix the recommended base color with Tamiya Paints...XF-57Buff 80% XF-5 Flat Green and XF-63 German Grey....the mix called for Dark Grey but German Grey is all I had.
It's been fun so far obviously the model is an old motorized mold but I can deal with it. Updates may be slow do to life's responsibilities but I look forward to getting this kit moving out of the stash...ha ha......need to make more room for Sherman's. Time for a cold drink and lifting up my feet...cheers
Regards Mike

Good Afternoon My Friends
Not a whole lot of progress to this point I've installed all the compartment lids on the deck of the beast along with the head lights and guards. While removing the headlights and guards from the sprue I was wondering what you guys use to accomplish this? Years ago I purchased a pair of Testers cutters which worked for many years. After purchasing another pair they were not very good. I've purchased several types since then but have yet to find an acceptable pair. I have recently purchased a pair of tweezers cutters (pictured below) from Squadron and I love them! Their great for removing small parts from the sprue for large pieces not so much. Happy Friday lets have a drink...cheers
Regards Mike

Looking good Mike! I have a pair of those tweezer cutters as well and use them from time to time but my main sprue cutting device is the trusty pair of Tamiya sprue cutters.

I don't own a sprue cutter - I use these Cheaper, and IMO better: the danger of parts pinging off into the jaws of the carpet monster are much reduced - especially as I use a T-shirt as a lap-apron.

Man, I kept forgetting to buy that sprue cutter from Tamiya. I rarely see them at model shows and my local shops don't supply them. So where did you order it from if you did?
Bring on the primer! I love the smell of primer in the morning you can scream...

Happy Saturday Hoping to get the turret basket assembled and added to the rear of the turret. Not a big fan of these things and of course there are injector marks on the support brackets so I've filled them no giant issue but just an added frustration. Looks like a great day to have a drink, sand and glue. Additionally I've used all the base color for the beast so a new batch is in the making. Regards Mike

Happy Friday Eve Been making a little progress on the M60 starting to take shape. Haven't been able to spend as much time on it as I like but it's coming along. Looking forward to spending more time on it this weekend. Added a little color to the deck. Have a great weekend. Cheers Mike

Thanks Leon I was trying something different than the desert yellow. Really like the off green was hoping for something a little darker for the base.....lesson learned...try it first on a piece of scrap.

Good Evening, Got a little further along with my project working on the turret and insuring the barrel seams have been taken care of. Additionally I've started on the figure and related storage, I became distracted by a bust I've had laying around....using it for a little practice as well. hopefully sometime this week I'll add the base color for the turret. Regards Mike
