Looks like I've got it all back together again. Pleased with the repairs Hubs are so big there's no support for the axles As a result I used Evergreen hollow rods and epoxy to tighten up the fit F Finished repairs.....much sturdier now Regards Mike

Gosh darn it! Fixed the rear drive sprockets and while fitting the rubber band tracks a freaking road wheel snapped off! Wow didn't expect that crap! Regards Mike

That just means you did too good of a job on the sprockets! May need to replace those tracks or you'll be going down the line one at a time on those road wheels.

Thanks guys........little frustrated. Just wanted to finish it and move on to my Firefly and it seems the beast keeps throwing me curves. I have learned a lesson if I was going to build another of these I'd use aftermarket tracks of some type. Regards Mike

I've had really good luck with Friuls on my Magach builds, and since they're the early Merkava1 or 2 (both are accurate) tracks, they're frequently available on buy-and-sell boards for reasonable money. And I've snapped a swing arm or two myself, and done your same fix for the drive sprockets, just part of the game. Not to hijack, but this is a pic of the same basic hull you're working on with a set of Friuls: The minor amount of sag is correct and normal for rocky or hard terrain. When Magachs are in sand or soft soil, the tracks are run tighter, and that little bit of info is from a couple of Desert Eagle Magach books. Keep after it, you're doing a fine job.

Thanks Leon it's been a struggle but that's the whole challenge of it. Spent more time looking and figuring than building. If I choose to build another one it won't be straight out of the box...I'll definitely invest in after market tracks....other than that not to bad.
Regards Mike
