So I was working on some very tedious parts this weekend. Which some how dot me thing about this question/thread.
What is or was your favorite kit of all time.......
AT THIS TIME YOU ARE LIMITED TO ONE SELECTION just cause...LOL Mine was the Tamiya Models MRC 1970's release of the German Panzer II F/G variant with the 4 piece Afrika Korp figures.....
The main reason for this kit was this was the first real 1/35th scale kit I ever built. I think I was 12 or 13. Even though by today's standards it "blew chunks". In the 1970's it was something. With crisp parts, which were relatively flash free, EASY to follow instruction sheets,. Which included painting options and even a lil history THAT I LOVED. Soft tracks that actually fit, even though you had to staple them together, ( ). The figures had individual equipment, a first for me which opened up the door to the world of scratch building....... Plus the price in 1970's dollars was only 4.50 usd. And at the time if you shopped around you COULD actually find the version with sandbags, fuel cans and brick wall sets included. All for the lofty price of 11.75 usd , (Why the Afrika Korp needed Brick walls still eludes me). Additionally, I still think it also had a battery operated power unit?? and that stinking rotten lil tube of glue that didn't hold enough glue to affix one figure let alone the WHOLE shooting match, especially if you found one of the "bonus sets".
Anyhow that's my selection..... Later IF this thread catches on will go to your second favorite kit selection.

Great thread PJ. If I had to pick one, it would be the Monogram 1/32 Panzer IV for the exact reason as your Panzer II. It was the first tank model I ever built.

Tamiya's Char B1 bis, for me. A stress free build that has the end results of being fairly accurate.

I've been mulling this one over for a while. For me it's got to be the Trumpeter KV-1 Ehkranami: inexpensive, accurate, and easy to build - and it looks cool in a brutal sort of way.

Any Dragon Tiger or King Tiger.Their detailed enough, but not overly, some PE.They usually go together nicely and make a nice build.

The Tasca 1/35 Luchs. Built up cleanly with zero problems and probably the best engineered kit I've ever encountered. That's my modern favorite. My 'kid' favorite definitely was the 1/72 B-36 Peacemaker. I saved for months to get it. It was huge, I hand painted it with I don't know how many of those little square bottles of silver, and it dominated my bedroom ceiling for many years.

I think my favorite was a B17 balsa wood kit with the tissue covering! Like Bill, it was hand painted silver.

I'm not the type of guy that is overly sentimental about this kind of thing, so I'd say my favourite kit is always the last one to be finished, that goes in the glass case.

No doubt! Tamiya's Jeep! (1997 release) My dioramas tend to need a lot of these wonderful little vehicles. I'm at the point now that I can put one together in just under 2 hours.

The Tasca Luchs is probably the best armor kit sold. I like the Accurate Miniatures Avenger a lot, but probably not my favorite. I'm probably going to pick the new Revell FW190f8. gary favorite non existing kit? The new Revell Lockheed Hudson!

My Rye Field Tiger I , and I have'nt built it yet. I bought the basic kit (5001?) when it was recommended by one of the AMPS guys. Very impressed! A week later I bought a second kit; as if I need another Tiger! Wish they'd do a Panther series. gary

For me it has to be Industria Mechanika's rendition of Ian McQue's Remora flying boat.
Now I know this is a bit off the wall and 'deep' as to why it is my favourite kit, but I can't say much more that from a modelling point of view it was an 'awakening' for me, a sense of achievement and pride that is totally personal and in line with how i think my mind is wired !
And as Mr Gump said.......that's all I have to say about that!

Sorry I'm getting old.... That was a FW190F8 and Lockheed Hudson.
I'm impressed with the wide variety of the selections..... Some modelers are going "old school", others still non plastic. Then others ore choosing the new breed of kits.....
VERY COOL
