Greetings all; Since I'm new here I was, wondering where you aquire your kits, accessories and supplies from; I currently get mine from the following; Scale Hobbyist Hobbylinc Megahobby M&Models Pacific Coast Models Ebay (occasionaly) Amazon Tank Workshop Tiger Model Designs (TMD) Shapeways (various vendors) Any suggestions? Sadly there are really no hobby shops in my direct area. Places like Michaels,Hobby Lobby, and Hobby warehouse are minimally stocked. I did find one Hobby shop in Sarasota (south of me) but found it their going out of business and closing very soon. Sad.. Kindest Regards; Harold

Another one you might want to take a look at is Freetime Hobbies. All depends on what you want or are after! I will often go to them for hard to find paint since they can ship in the US for example among other things that they also carry.

I've gone internet only now as most of my local shops sell Airfix, some Tamiya and some Revell, and the stock never changes, apart from 1 shop, and then only occasionally.

Like Sean virtually all my buying happens online - the two shops local to me have a limited range, but to make up for it they charge premium prices. As they are mainly aimed at the R/C fraternity they also lack in knowledge. Customer service is not great either. But there is a good shop for Vallejo products not far away - their service is great too. Being notoriously short of arm and deep of pocket I generally avoid German online shops as their charges for postage can be a touch on the hefty side. I try to keep it 'in the (MSC)family' and order from Petros Modellbau and Martin, or swap goodies with a few good friends. Other than that, I'm pretty good at hunting down bargains on Fleabay auctions - being specialised in soviet era subjects helps, as fewer people seem to bid on them.

My Mrs learned the hard way over the weekend....
She went out on the lash with her mates and left me unattended with a freshly paid off credit card and a laptop....
I'm now the proud owner of 80 quids worth of Milicast products that should be getting picked at some point today....
She will learn one day, but until that day arrives.....

Hobbyworld-USA almost exclusively. The owner (Matthew Bole) is excellent and will give great customer service via PM on Facebook or email. He's given my FB group a number of good deals. It's LHS service from a Web sho . No sense in using anything else as far as I'm concerned

I try to buy from my LHS if possible, but the only one down my way seems disinterested in keeping kits on the shelf. So the next source is about 25 miles north of me, and they have a lot of kits but most are old kits. So the next one is about 35 miles north. They also have a lot of kits. But also an hour's worth of driving! Years back we had Tom Metzgar just up the road, and his shop was almost perfect. Tom retired and couldn't get anybody to take the business over. Of course we have Hobby Lobby and all their antiques.
Wednesday I'm ordering in a Mig 31 and a Kfir from AMK. Have been to two shops, and they are not interested in my business (?). I will setup an account with whoever wants my business, and we'll both be happy.
I buy all my paint brushes from Hobby Lobby. They run sales on them monthly, and they sell different grades of artist brushes.

I manage a hobby shop, so I try to buy where I work (it's cheaper). The internet is killing local hobby shops. That being said, I do order from, and highly recommend Last Cavalry.

I manage a hobby shop, so I try to buy where I work (it's cheaper). The internet is killing local hobby shops. That being said, I do order from, and highly recommend Last Cavalry. I agree, I used to be the under manager at an Arts, crafts and hobby store, and was also in charge of the internet sales, and some weeks we would have a 50/50 split in sales between walk in and www sales, that was 10+ years ago now, the shop is now gone, leaving only the bespoke picture framing side of the business still going, and thats sharing floor space with 3 other, totally unrelated, shops under the same roof.... Sign of the internet ruled times I guess Saying that the archery shop I regularly frequent is booming, and also has a massive internet sales side, I guess his policy of "not selling you a bow until I've shaken your hand" persuades a lot of people to visit the shop, and then when they see all the other toys available, dig a little deeper into the bottom of their pockets. Infact I was in their on Friday when a guy had spent all day driving there from western Ireland just to have his Olympic style bow set up for him... I wonder if we'd be as dedicated if it were a model we REEEEAALLY wanted?!
