No dramas mate, I've been off on the sick myself for the last week hence the quick 3 in a row, I've also got the Machine shop truck ready to paint but that one is going to be an epic affair so I'm having a break for 10 and doing something else to regain my momentum.

You are truly a building machine! I will refrain from smoking too close to the latest build. Another stunning addition!

So after building over a dozen Bedford QLs now from Airfixs' 1/76 scale kits I came to notice some oddities with the scaling of the cab while doing my research for back bodies. Turns out the old Airfix QL is actually closer to 1/72 scale in height but 1/76th in width, yet the new QLs cab is nearer 1/72 scale in width and closer to 1/76 in height. So I've taken them both and started to make a corrected one and obviously with a scale increase there is a need to correct the chassis for scale as well..... On to the pics...... And while I was at it I thought it almost rude not to make a Ford WOT 6/8 cab as well..... Now the thing is the wheel base is very similar to several other 3 Ton trucks, so there are plans a foot to also produce cabs of them also at some point in the future, so stay tuned.... There is also a chance that Ian at Wee Friends Models will take them on as kits once a couple are finished.... ATB Sean

I'd better do an update to this thread as since I started doing the pattern making for Friendship Models things have moved on and time scales have gone a little awry..... Since last time I have.... Finished the 1/72 corrected QL cab and taken a couple of castings using some old, filled, resin to clean out the mould and test to see where any issues can arise.... As can be seen there's air trapped in the radiator cover and the headlamp and a bubble in the hip ring..... I also made a generic 13ft chassis and extension piece, which will be provided in any of the 16ft body kits, and also in this picture is the spare tyre/fuel tank piece that will be provided in any 13ft body kit that requires it..... Here is the test fit of all the corrected parts to make sure they all fit as they should for a 16ft body.... Following all this Ian at Friendship Models had an order from a Wargamer for 40+ QLT troop transports, so without further a do I pushed straight on with scratchbuilding the QLT body for the QL chassis I just made..... I've provided 2 options for top canvas..... Side by side with the Airfix version QLT, I hope the differences are obvious if not mission sort of accomplished as well..... The complete kit, it will be provided with 2 of the small bits sprue to make up a full kit and I'll leave it to Ian as to how he divides the canvas'..... I've now also cast up a 13ft chassis/cab to build a new body on to..... After a brief discussion with Ian I suggested a J145 Radio body to provide the wargamers with some comms to which he agreed..... The one at the back is for me, the 'kit'ised (is that even a word???) version is infront.... I'm now at the point of making the 'Luton' box above the cab and forming the roof sections..... That's it for now, hope you all like.... ATB Sean

That was a great update... I can't say little update despite how tiny your builds are!
