Well after hunting and watching everywhere; I finally own an AMK kit. Not their MIG, but their L29 trainer.
The box was a little rough looking from being miss handled, but all inside is perfect. The mold quality is fantastic! Cockpit area is excellent, and one small thing that caught my eye was the separate seat cushions. I hate painting the ones molded to the seat frames. The rest of the kit was excellent, with the landing gear maybe looking a bit heavy. This could be just me. Rest of the molding is very sharp. Decal sheet gives you seven different airframes! Decals look to be very nice, but some say they are a tad thick. I couldn't tell as I left them in the sleeve. There is also a small photo etch piece shipped with the kit.
As far as I know, this is the only 1/48th kit of the L29 out there. Paid the ghastly sum of $33, and could not be any more pleased with it. The quality is every bit Hasegawa or Tamiya, and in some ways better at $33! Maybe AMK will become my new Accurate Miniatures.

Nice ,I just ordered the Mig 31 myself, also want you check out their coming F-14 Four or five years ago, I got hung up on Goggle Earth. Spent two to four hours a day exploring the countryside. USSR submarines interested me a lot, then I got to poking around their air bases. I saw many L-29's the were armed much like we arm our A10's, but the kit is unarmed! I'm going with the AMK F14. Really want a very early F14a in Wolf Pack colors, but guess the first kit will be an F14d (yawn). I tried my best to buy a MIG31 a month ago, but had zero luck. I saw one a friend picked up at the local model show (beat out the Turk). He paid about $10 over retail for, and it was that nice. With out a doubt the kit of the year!!! If that new F14 comes out that nice, it will create a waiting line everywhere. gary

I just published my look at the Mig-31 today. Like here for anyone interested: jimsmodels.com/amk-mig-31-bbs-foxhound-review/I can say that if the L-29 is remotely as good you have a gem on your hands. They have really impressed me not only with the exceptional quality of their kits for such a young company, but also with their committeemen to the customer base. The second release of the Mig-31 improved upon just about every criticism that was levied against the first release. That says a lot about their philosophy if you ask me. I can not wait to see what they do with the F-14 and future kits.

There are complete markings for seven airframes! The way the did the cockpit was fantastic. Now I gotta get another AMK kit! I told Marten that AMK doing an F100d would be a license to print money. Can you imagine them doing the F86 series? Love to see them go thru the A4 and for once a correct A10! gary

One clean and the other with all the goodies. gary
