I kind of want to do a Sherman Calliope, and the only donor kits I've seen are from Monogram (1/32 scale) and Italeri (based on a 1/35 scale M4a3). Anybody know of an aftermarket resin kit to adapt to an Asuka or Tamiya Sherman? Or is the Italeri reasonably accurate? gary

I "think" Verlinden did one eons ago.
My recommendation is invest in the "chopper" or K & S pipe cutter and do the tubes out of aluminum...
But what the heck do I know...
best of luck

Well I think the Verlinden kit is the right track. Yet looking at the launcher, I see it's nothing but welded fabrication from angle iron and rectangular tubing. Still I found an Italeri kit. May just go that route, but it also needs some work to make it right.

OK! Here's the finalized plan on the Sherman Calliope.
As you know by now, I just gotta be a little different. I'm thinking about using the Asuka "late fay kit." It has the big hatches on the generic M4 Sherman hull. They made a few of them for sure. For the rocket launcher assembly; I plan on using the Verlinden kit. The turret will need some work, unless I find something better, but still it's close. As for the Asuka kit, it needs nothing but a metal barrel and a lot of mud.
Not telling where, but I've found two of the Verlinden kits, So I may build a second one off the M4a3 hull. Problem here is that I'll really need a new turret and main gun assembly. I've a couple Asuka kits, but they're 76mm gun kits with the wrong turret. I'll be doing a good bit of research on the second build. gary

Sounds like your headed on the right track Gary! Will be an interesting project once you get all the parts together.

Sounds like your headed on the right track Gary! Will be an interesting project once you get all the parts together. looking in my stash, I found two Late Fay kits, and there seems to be plenty on the shelf. I figure I'll buy some resin stowage to go ontop the hull. I also have a couple surprises up my sleeve to enhance the project. gary
