A little more detail....
Ok how to make weld beads using solder.
First place the solder where you want the weld to be.
With a metal tool create the weld bead texture.
Pretty simple

I didn't know where you were headed with the khaki base - but I like it now! This was one of my first armor builds ten years ago...had a pic I took of the tank Tamiya used for one of the paint schemes in the box (took it at Aberdeen, maybe?) and off I went.
Good stuff!
