Hello gents and gentesses,
I'm in contact with a Spanish company that already offers a resin correction set for the Trumpeter NKL-26 aerosan kit. On my suggestion this is about to be expanded by a PE fret that should address the remaining problems of the Trumpy kit. Now the company is thinking about going the whole hog and releasing a complete and accurate multi-media kit of the NKL-26 - which would work out less expensive than buying the Trumpeter base kit and the correction set. I have already given them my personal opinion but would like to hear from the great MSC public what your thoughts on the matter are. Now, I know it is a niche subject and the question isn't if you would actually buy it, but which option would make more sense in your opinion.

Dierk,The full kit makes more sense if it's going to cost less!

Are we talking about a full resin kit? I don't see how that could be possible...here in the states (at least) you can get that Trumpeter kit for 20 bucks. It's cheap! Maybe the resin correction costs more than I think?

Maybe the resin correction costs more than I think? The current resin conversion is about 10 bucks, but this will go up once the props and PE are added, probably roughly doubling the price. The other thing is that European buyers als get hit by 21% VAT (bit like sales tax). I would imagine that the full multimedia kit would only be marginally cheaper than buying the Trumpy plus conversion, but that is an assumption on my part. I will ask them what they think the price difference will be.

Speaking purely from a cost-benefit perspective, if they are able to produce a more accurate subject at par or near the same price as the current plastic options, it would be better for those who don't have the Trumpeter kit already to go for the full resin...assuming they don't mind working in resin vs. plastic. That's the real kicker...trying to read the tea leaves to decide if they will sell more of the full kit at a decent price point or if they would sell more of the upgrade set approach simply because people are already invested in the base kit and just want to improve it.
I suppose, given that I know very little about the Aerosan in general, how bad/inaccurate the Trumpy kit really is and whether or not people steered clear of it entirely or went ahead and got it even with some flaws because it was styrene and not resin.

Anyone advanced enough to want an upgrade set would likely have the skill set to build a resin kit anyway I'd think. Moreover, if everything came from the same manufacturer there's less chance of parts not fitting together well altho we all know there's no guarantee that'd happen
