Sorry for the absence guys. I had to take the laptop in for repair a couple of weeks ago so I have been unable to get online for a while. But now I am back up and running and I am almost ready to finish this off. So its time to sow what i have been doing the last couple of weeks. Firstly, the figures. These were finished off with an oil wash over the camouflage and all the missing bits added. Once they are on the base, i will use some pigments to tie them better into the base. And that base has been my main focus. It has ben slow going, but i have just been making this up as i go along and i am pretty pleased with the results. The road and path were painted with Tamiya German grey mixed with a little black. The path was then dry brush with oils and for the cobbles, i took a selection of grey and brown oils and went over individual stones. The house was painted Humbrol brick red with was followed with Humbrol Pale stone for the mortar. This was the most time tedious bit. I then mixed different batches of brick red with various oils, orange, browns and so on, and went over the bricks. This was followed with a coat of Alclad aqua clear to protect the oils and enamels and it was all given a raw Umber oil wash. I wash very happy with how this came out, especially the house. The inside also got some attention. Starting down stairs i added real cloth carpet from Reality in scale. This is really great product you can feel the texture. I then added some skirting boards with was a thin strip of balsa painted gloss white, followed by the wallpaper, also from Reality in scale. After painting upstairs a light green, i added the ceiling/floor between the ground and first floor. For the lath and plaster ceiling i use balsa wood, styrene strip for the lath and celluclay for the plaster. For the rendered wall i wanted a yellow/green colour. There are a lot of houses around where i live with coloured plaster on the outside walls, many in this colour. I was going to try and mix my own but when i was looking through my Tamiya colours i spotted there yellow green which i had forgotten i had. Its not a colour i use often. And it was perfect. And that's it for now. Just got to add the rubble and some final bits and pieces. The small open patch to one side of the house will be a small bit of garden. Going to add some grass and flowers to that, then a small bit of fence. Should be wrapping this up soon. Now I better catch up on the rest of the forum has been doing.

Just catching up on your work Bish - impressive! I'm not usually a great fan of paper panzers, but this one pushes all the right buttons. And you've done a great job of it - personally, I'd add some ground in dust to the tracks, but I'm assuming that is yet to come when it all gets tied together on the base? As for the figures: get yourself a Windsor&Newton Series 7 short haired 000. Has a beautiful sharp tip and if you don't abuse it it lasts for ages - much better than any 10x0 I've ever tried.

Cheers dierk, and thank for the tip on the paint brush, i'll look into that. The base is all done, I am just leaving it for a couple of days to dry before adding the vehicle and some final pigments to match the base (you assume correct dierk ) and it will be done.

Ok, time to get this beast wrapped up. I have had the base finished for a few days but have been leaving it all to dry and making sure i have not missed anything. Before the final pics, here's a few of the completed base. I didn't want to go to over board with the rubble. I wanted a damaged single house rather than a flattened street. I started out with some celluclay to give some bulk to the rubble and give me something to attach other bits with. I mixed in some fine pumice with the celluclay and even where it shows through i rather like the effect. For the rest of the rubble, i got a couple of pots of Urban Debris from Dio Dump in the Netherlands which included bricks with mortar, fine rubble dust, dusty planks and loads of other bits. To this i added lots more lose bricks, stained wood and some left overs from the window frames and skirting boards. I was really pleased with the end result, especially for my first urban dio. Sorry about the pics. My pop up photo booth is not really designed to handle stuff this big. I am in the process of converting a spare bedroom into a dedicated model den and hopefully i can set up a better photo area. If so, i may take some new pics then. And then just to add the big guy himself. I used some rubble pigments on the running gear as well as on the figures to tie them in with the base. Convention would probably have this build side on, with the house behind the vehicle. But very early on i decided i wanted this head on. Before i added the side framing, which is determined by where the front is, i did some checking on the layout, and yep, defiantly front on. And there it is. Really pleased with how this turned out. As always, some lessons learned and ideas for improvement next time round. Thanks for all the comments and ideas. I am really pleased with the camo uniforms, the black is a nice addition. Now i just need some where to put this, i think i might need a reinforced shelf, this thing is damn heavy.

Daaaaaang, Bish - that's hot! Really great work on the base...the rubble is convincingly "random".

Hi Bish
Sorry I'm late to the party on this one. I've got to say that is an outstanding job all round.
Well done.

No problem Andrew, I have been a bit late in replying to others myself. Thanks for the comment. I knew I had done something right on this build when the Mrs even said she liked it.
