Aha! Another Captain arises! Nice to see you start a floaty build mate...my Yammi won't feel that alone anymore (the others tend to have stalled ) Looking forward to see you build this! Cheers

I'll be watching! Yes Wouter, my Schwimmie has stalled when I came across 10 piece PE rifle holders - but I'm hoping to crack on with it once my BA-10 is painted and waiting for decals...

Well buys and girls it is certainly a pleasure to have you aboard. Bill, I recently looked over your "Z" build log and I agree, the back hull is very evil looking. The 1st 2 of too many damn small guns. Holy moly that took a long time. And talk about small fiddly bits. And this from a guy that has done more than my fair share of 144th amount and armor.

Slick work on the dual gun mounts there Marc, very nice! Just remember that 1/350 is twice the scale of 1/144...so you know what you're in for!

Bill, twice the scale almost makes it sound bigger. Boy howdy it ain't that. Bench time has once again at a premium and this was more work that it looks. Most of us have experienced bad Dragon instructions. To the point that Dragon is a verb. "OH CRAP! I've been Dragon'd again.". "Well just Dragon me!" "Oh crap... I am SO Dragon'd " Already wrong part numbers and line drawing that don't match the parts. And I'm on page 1.

Nice guns you have there! Most people think that Dragon are just crap at doing instructions, but what they don't realise is that the company has a much more philosophical approach and is trying to educate its customers to use their brains and think for themselves, so they'll never fall into the trap of having to use the excuse 'I was only following orders'

I was curious to see black basing would translate to a ship. Black primer coat is marbled with a light color. Color coats are built up in thin transparent layers to give a tonal variations, since anything you look at is rarely a perfect even color like a wall in your living room. Lifecolor Rot 5 mixed a about 1:1 and mist coats applied... about 3 here. And 2 more in the next pic. The overall effect is more vivid than I can capture in a photo. Masked from the boot stripe down and re-primed and marbled for the Dunkelgrau Hull DKM 51. Even harder to photo the effect with a light color. Deck covered with Tamiya German Gray.

Sharp work on those guns, Wingy!
Do you feel that the base coat pre-mottling was worth it?

Thanks Marc

I only did it on the hull thinking it would be to difficult on he small amount of superstructure. And yes, the effect is nice. subtle and hard to photograph. The close up of the bottom o f the hull show it to some degree.
