So, "I'll deal with that when I get there", then? Hahahah.

great work so far. What is the ratio on the primer and self leveling thinner?

great work so far. What is the ratio on the primer and self leveling thinner? About 50/50. Thicker than that and it's hard to spray.

Great color for sure! Looking forward to see how you will fix it... I am guessing very thin .10 styrene squared rod to be placed in there gently.

I am guessing very thin .10 styrene squared rod to be placed in there gently. It's the paint stripe, not the clamshell door which will need fixing. In fact, I might need to scribe to accentuate the seams at the edges of the clamshell. Graphics printed to decal paper. In need of nose gear. Actually turned out pretty well.

Gosh, I didn't see that. Decals sure made it look more complete now.

Это выглядит большой, Джон. spaseeba! This is a good example of the power of indium. In a word for word translation it means, "It appears big, John." Yes. It's over 18" long. But that's not important right now. Paint effects in the yellow area and getting the большой cowling doors mounted. Stay, stanchions, rods and grease all to be added yet. Then of course there's the crane truck, the figures and the base. So there's more to go.

More of the weathering thing. All oil based, some airbrushed, some hand brushed. Also a big jump forward with the helipad base. Heat affects foam. This is a useful thing to know.
Home Depot sells reject samples of latex paint for $1. Also useful to know.
Non-sanded tile grout has a nice powder texture and sticks very well to wet paint. Concrete texture.
Airbrush grey/tan/white.
And landscaping to go with the concrete.
I'll need a day for things to dry. But then we can start to add vegetation. Stay tuned.

John. Did you just thin the oils with turps and shoot it through the brush? What was your thinning ratio?

John. Did you just thin the oils with turps and shoot it through the brush? What was your thinning ratio? The very light browning effect near the rotor mast was a drop Mr Paint (not Mr. Color, that's a different product) cut with about 20 drops of lacquer thinner from the home center. I've found that lacquer thinner flows more easily than mineral spirits (white spirits) and tends to bite into and hold more solidly into the underlying paint or plastic. This mix was sprayed using cardstock as a mask to control where the droplets landed. Over the white surface, even the lightest of weathering is easy to see.

I wasn't satisfied with the vegetation at the end pf the helipad and added some better bushes. I'm planning to complete the frame border around the scene tomorrow and the base should be complete. Thanks for tuning in!

Beginning to finalize the positions of things and glue a few items to the tarmac. I'm just about done with the gardening. A reasonable copy for the original. But I do need to pull the straps tighter so as to give the rotor blades more, "weight".
