This is the Hasegawa Ammo Knight. These are such easy kits to put together. The model is mostly OOB with the exception of replacing the tubing with Wave springs, smoke launcher tubes, adding the corn-dog antenna, and scratch building the fuel tank straps. Colors are custom mixed. The Sand Pink is Tamiya Desert Yellow mixed with a little Red and Gray. The Dark Brown is Tamiya Rubber mixed with a little Red Brown. I used the HS technique for all the chipping and followed up with a little color mapping with Vallejo acrylics. A sepia filter has tied everything together. Needs lots more weathering and a small base. May or may not build the figure.

Mmmmmm...that color mapping thing looks spectacular. What colors do you use? Are you just eyeballing slightly different tones of the color you're overpainting?

Thanks.
Dupes - Yes, I'm eyeballing slightly lighter tones of the airbrushed colors. Applying them to add some visual texture or highlighting certain areas.

Dupes - Yes, I'm eyeballing slightly lighter tones of the airbrushed colors. Applying them to add some visual texture or highlighting certain areas. The effect certainly works! I'm not sure if I'd be able to pick proper complementary colors via Mk.I eyeball or not. Are you using a stippling effect? Or sponge, even?

Thanks all.
Dupes - The color only needs to be close enough. Weathering will take care of the rest. I use a #1 round brush and randomly dab in the color. The paint is thinner than normal for brush painting to build up gradual layers.

Awesome finish! I like the chipping and faded paint look.
